LOVE ROOMBA, KEEP IT PLUG INTO THE CHARGER

I have had my roomba for over a year and love it. Several friends bought them and after a few months had problems. After researching the problem I found they all were unplugging the roomba and leaving the battery in. LEAVE THE ROOMBA PLUGGED INTO THE CHARGER AT ALL TIMES OR REMOVE THE BATTERY WHEN NOT CONNECTED TO THE CHARGER. This simple tip will help keep your roomba running. It does not like to have the battery in the machine when not plugged into to the charger.

Roomba is the best housecleaning tool invented in my 54 years. Vaccuming daily changed my life. It is unbelievable how much dirt, hair, dust etc is deposited on floors everyday and I live alone!

Buy a roomba you will delighted.

THIS IS THE INVENTION OF THE CENTURY.........

According to my wife, this is the invention of the century. Every time I come home from work and go into the master bedroom, the carpet looks like it was just vacuumed. And, yes it was, but by the iRobot Roomba. It seems to find it's way into every nook and cranny and runs for a full 2 hours on 1 charge and finds it's way back to it's docking station or signals you that it can't find the station so you will give a lift back home. It is awesome. My wife has always been a vacuumaholic, but has finally met her match. We have some very expensive vacuums, but none of the others vacuum on their own.

  I love my Roomba!

I have 4 boys, so the Roomba is a great little helper. It definately saves me a lot of time. Since it is not very loud I usually set it at night after the kids are in bed.

It is necessary to empty it more frequently and clean the roller brush after every 4-5 uses. I personally think it is worth it because I am still saving time and energy in the long run. It even comes with a special tool to help clean the roller brush, so it's pretty easy to take care of.

  I LOVE MY I-ROBOT ROOMBA!
Review created: 09/18/06(updated 11/02/08)
13 of 13 people found this review helpful.

I absolutely adore my iRobot-Roomba! So much so, that I named her "Rosie" (after the robotic maid from the Jetsons) My entire family refers to her only as "Rosie". I literally smile every time I start her up! I can't say that I have any major complaints & she's been with us for 3 years. I had to replace the battery once & I didn't have her for a few weeks & I really missed her! She does a fantastic job on all my floors & changes surfaces nicely. She even has a sensor that tells her when she's by the stairs & will not fall down them! Once in a while she gets snagged on my lightweight entry rug or something I forgot to pick up or didn't see under the bed/couch, but as with any vacuum, you must pick up things that will get snagged before you start. I especially love when she finds one of the kids "missing" toys shoes or socks under the couches/beds & just pushes them out into plain sight. You must empty out the bin after each use which is simple enough for a 2 year old to do, it snaps off & on with ease. After several uses you should take her over a trash can (outside) & clean out the brushes & nooks. (it gets messy) That's really the only thing I didn't like about it. The best part is I don't have to move my furniture out to the middle of the room ever again to clean behind the couches & I don't ever have to go into the "military crawl" to get the dust bunnies under my beds. She does it all!!! On carpets though, you still have to break out the heavy duty vacuum for tough jobs & in between every few cleanings with the iRobot-Roomba, but I have most of my house in either tile or wood flooring, with the exception of 2 area rugs. She even leaves the clean vacuum lines on the carpets! (If your rugs are a plush or high pile, she tends to get stuck on the edges, but will free herself eventually. Unfortunately this uses up the charge quicker.) My dog ins't bothered at all by it although we had Rosie first so she doesn't know any better. My kids think she's cool, it even entertains my 9 month old. My friends & family all want one now that they see how pleased I am. I love turning her on in front of unsuspecting friends just to see their reaction.

I DEFINITELY intend to buy the iRobot-scooba mop for my tiled floors (maybe I will ask for it for Christmas... I have 4 kids & a drooling/shedding English Bulldog & I cant imagine asking for a better present this Christmas!

I have allergies. whenever I vacuum my allergies act up. I have been researching vacuum cleaners and decided I wanted a Dyson or a Roomba. I am a single working mother and the idea that the Roomba could vacuum while i'm at work, or doing other housework was very appealing to me. I found a good price on e-bay and bought one. I couldn't be happier. My house is vacuumed more often, and sometimes more thoroughly because the roomba gets under beds, dressers... I wish i had bought one sooner. The only possible drawback is the collection chamber is small and it requires regular cleaning. No big deal- 10 minutes a week average.

  Discover the Roomba for yourself
Review created: 02/25/08
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I bought my Roomba Discovery in March 2007, after spending nearly a year researching the company, and the product, and sampling the conversations held in the very active Roomba chat rooms. Though hoping to be impressed, I had a healthy amount of cynicism when I finally made my purchase.

I highly recommend you read the manual cover-to-cover before you do anything with the vacuum. From my experience, some of the issues related to premature battery problems stem from the fact that eager users don't take time to do the 16-hour initial battery charge; and many people don't realize that the Roomba must be left on its charging base while the battery is installed.

It's quite simple to understand when you realize that the Roomba is always monitoring the airwaves for a command from its remote control. And since the Discovery can also be scheduled, there is a program constantly running and trying to determine whether it's time to do the vacuuming.

I have a few pets that shed lots of hair. For this, iRobot recommends you buy the "Pet Upgrade" kit, which consists of a stiffer main brush, and convenient brush cleaning device (among other items). To keep the Roomba working at peak performance, you should get into the habit of cleaning the brushes after every (or every second) vacuuming cycle.

Even though a thorough cleaning of the Roomba might take as much time as it would to push your vacuum around the house, being able to perform this cleaning from the sitting position makes it more acceptable.

With built in sensors and a pretty decent "escape" logic that allows Roomba to mostly avoid trouble spots, and then get itself out of the spots it occasionally finds itself in, Roomba runs mostly trouble-free. However, the user manual warns people not to leave things around that a normal vacuum would have trouble with... things like tangles of speaker wire, laces on shoes, and fringes on carpets. I find that if I remove small toys and light (i.e. not heavy) throw rugs from the floor, Roomba can handle most everything else.

Roomba is particularly good at getting under furniture, and it is fun to watch Roomba get under a dining room table and manoeuvre through the maze of chair legs.

I am always amazed at the amount of dirt Roomba picks up - considering I run it every second day. For those who won't mind giving the Roomba freequent clean-outs, you won't be disappointed with its performance.

I've already recommended it to friends and have purchased a second one for my mother-in-law, who is a partially disabled senior.

I was ready to have a major hernia operation. My husband has a very bad back. And here we are with a house full of dust and animal hair! What to do? We decided to try a Roomba. Best thing we ever bought. It keeps our home so clean - no more dust particles in the sunshine that comes through the windows. Forget the air purifiers.. this vacuum keeps it so clean it actually changes the air in our home! It stays in its charger at all times - always ready to serve!

  Super Roomba to the rescue

I can't say anything bad about the roomba. What else can I say about a device that vacuums for you. I let my roomba loose every other day. I am still amazed after 7 months of how much dust and dirt it picks up. Sure it doesn't to a great job of edges and corners but it does a good enough job. But it sure makes up for it on the rest of the floor. The roomba even finds the base charger when it is done or when it is low on battery. I start the roomba up in the basement before I go to bed. When I wake up in the morning, the floors are clean and the roomba is all charged up and ready to go again. I can barely hear the roomba two floors up in complete silence. I would say that it isn't as noisy as a conventional vacuum. I would recommend this to anyone!!

  I'm a lucky buyer!

I bought this Roomba as broken and not working, because the description said it would charge the battery but wouldn't do anything else. All I needed was something that would charge an additional Roomba battery for the Roomba we already have, so that's all I expected from it. However, my husband couldn't leave the broken one alone, and within minutes of its arrival he had it working, after he swapped out the battery that was in it for the battery from the Roomba we already had.

But the next day it wouldn't run at all--the battery was nearly dead even after charging overnight. Upon closer examination, I noticed that the power supply for the base charger wasn't original Roomba equipment. I compared it to the power supply on our other Roomba and saw that it wasn't the right voltage. The battery couldn't fully charge because the power supply was too weak. I swapped the incorrect power supply for one of the right voltage, and voila! A perfectly good, working Roomba!

I'm a really happy camper--now I have two Roombas (which will both get regular workouts because we have a houseful of dogs and birds).
And I like the 4210 Roomba even better than our 4105 model because it seems to be able to handle throw rugs and uneven carpet surfaces without getting stuck.

First I married a woman and she almost nagged me to death. Then I married a man and all he did was be lazy and complain. Now I am married to my Romantic Roomba and life is beautiful again.

Roomba cares about keeping my enviornment clean without a beep of a complaint. Roomba does not need constant attention and actually entertains me at the same time and my kids the laboradors. I feel like we work as a team finally. I can be cleaning the dishes and roomba is working on the whole house.

If you are in need of a faithful mate get a roomba and live happily every after.

  Great for Floors, Carpet OK
Review created: 10/10/07

5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I bought this Roomba to keep up with dog hair. It has served that purpose, but is much better on bare floors than on carpet. On floors the battery lasts 90+ mins. and it does a very good job getting dirt and hair.

On carpet: If you have kids and/or pets, the Roomba is really only good for 'touch ups' in between real vacuuming on carpets. It just isn't big and strong enough to pull all the hair and dirt out of the pile, & the battery lasts less than an hour on carpet.

The brushes and dust bin need to be cleaned with just about every use to keep it performing as desired.

I bought my Roomba on ebay (factory reconditoned) for half the retail price. Overall I'm happy with it and would recommend buying it at a good price, but it's not worth full retail.

  THE BEST MACHINE EVER
Review created: 04/03/07
by:
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I love this little machine. Amazing! I have birds so I decided to get this just to run around in my bird room. This little thing contantly runs around picking up seed (big and small). Goes everywhere; under small spaces (3.5") and over different floor surfaces (hardwood to high carpet)with ease. If it gets full (and that takes a lot), empty the cup and start it again. It has never gotten stuck even in the dining room with many obstacles (table and multiple chair legs). When it gets "tired", it goes back to its base to recharge. Now, how cool is that?! Just when you think it's missed a spot, it will come and go back over that area. I've never had a problem with it yet. I've heard it is IMPORTANT to always keep it plugged in on base when not in use (this keeps the battery strong). I highly recommend this machine! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  the battery dies too soon

When first I bought the iRobot a year ago, I just like everybody: love it. However, after few month, the batter dies. It costs at least %59.99 to replace the battery. After a year, the iRobot doesn't pick up things anymore. Just turning around and around.

So, it is wonderful when it works. However, it doesn't work that long. I paid $250 for the iRobot and only worked for a year, plus the cost for replace the battery. It is not cheap to have a toy that this. If you don't care about the money, then it is fun to have it.

I bought my roomba used and when I first started it the operating time was only about 5 minutes. I thought I needed a new battery so I went on line and in the process of trying to find a battery I came across a site with this information:
"Before you buy a new battery try this. Take out the battery find the reset button in the battery compartment and press it for about 10 seconds, then put the batery back and charge it directly, not on the rapid charger, for 72 hours."
What good advise that was. I did not have to buy a new battery and I have a Roomba that cleans like a champ for one hour. I never thought I would like one as much as I do.

I love that I can get other things done & not spend my time vacuuming! I love that my Roomba does a great job of cleaning. The only down side is that some throw rugs get "caught", so I supervise the cleaning of those first and then get them off the floor. Also, have to get cords up off the floor, and put something into the track of my sliding door, or Roomba gets stuck. But all in all I love my Roomba, would buy it all over again, & in fact also bought the Dirt Dog for my patio & garage. Cleans a lot better than I thought it would. Plus I use it more often then I would actually vacuum anyway.

I got the iRobot Roobmba aboout six weeks ago. I am impressed at how well it works at getting surface material off of the flooring and seems to pick up a lot of deeper dust and dirt down in the carpet. My only complaints I have are that the battery life is not the 120 minutes as advertised, it usully runs for about 45 minutes and the machine seems to have trouble finding the docking station it is automatically supposed to find on it's own when the battery gets low. Overall, a good product and very convenient. It frees me up to do other tasks.

Roomba Discovery 4210 Robot Vacuum Works Great
Review created: 04/04/07
by:
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

If in doubt, go out and buy yourself a Roomba Discovery Vacuum. You will not be sorry. This little machine is so worth every penny you'll pay.

I was skeptical at first, but decided to buy myself a Roomba Discovery vacuum a few months ago. I have to say that I absolutely LOVE IT! I have 7 pets in my home (2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 hamster, 1 guinea pig, 1 iguana), 4 of which shed, and I have to admit it's hard to keep pet hair off the floor. But now that I have my Roomba, life is much easier. To use the Roomba you have to pick up loose objects from the floor and then "turn him loose". The unit comes with two "virtual walls" so you can keep it contained into one area, or, let it wander your whole home. I like to let it vacuum two rooms at a time.

I find that on the hard floors the Roomba does a better job at picking up fine particles than a broom would. I am amazed at how much dust is on the floor (when you can't even see it!) and how much the Robot scoops up. And.... I have to say it really does pick up the pet hairs. My one dog is a thick coated border collie who sheds year round but the Roomba is able to vacuum up his hair, usually in one pass.

The unit is easy to use and even returns to it's home base when it needs recharging. For about $200, it is well worth the money.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for aging parents who have difficulty using a convential vacuum. I was a little worried about them handling the technology, but they love it! They run it daily and are so proud of their clean carpets. They also use it to 'sweep' their kitchen floor daily. It has given them a sense of independence that is so important.
The one drawback is that it is somewhat heavy when they pick it up to empty it (they are both 87 years old). So far, they have handled that well. they have their friends over to watch it while they visit...

Theroomba is great for showing off at parties and to friend. This unit works quite well, when properly cleaned. You have to clean the brushes on the bottom of the unit ( This can get quite dirty ). The roomba is great for quick clean-up, but if you dont keep it clean, it will leave olf dirt all over the floor.
Hope this helps.

  Roomba 4210, Worth Every Penny
Review created: 09/01/06
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The Roomba Discovery 4210 is an exceptional vacuum. I had a $300+ Hoover bagless vacuum that worked very well. I bought the Roomba for my mother who has asthma and can not vacuum half a room without requiring a breathing treatment. It arrived at my house and I tested it after just vacuuming with my Hoover. I was so amazed at the job that it did, I bought one for myself.

It works great on all types of flooring and easily moves from tile to carpet and back. Be sure to empty the collection bin after each usage; it will need it. Also remember to remove and tap clean the filter in the collection bin as it will collect a lot of dust even when you vacuum every day.

Buy yourself a Roomba, your house will be cleaner than ever before, and the best part is that all you have to do is empty it and clean the filter.

Was there life before Roomba???? I wanted to put in Mahogany floors, but dreaded the thoughts of the dust I'd have to deal with. The lady I was purchasing the flooring from recommended the Roomba . .I was very reluctant to make that investment because I couldn't see how that little thing could possibly get the floors clean! But, on her personal recommendation, I bit the bullet and purchased one. After tremendous success, I tout it to everyone I encounter. I have sold six women on the Roomba since I purchased mine - and they've all called and thanked me for the recommendation!!!

I will now purchase one for my downstairs, but it will be a 600 Series model. The 4210 will be relagated to the upstairs where it mostly has only to deal with dust.

I love the ease of keeping my floors clean without standing there holding/moving the vacuum cleaner back and forth. The ease of just hitting the power button to activate the Roomba then being able to go ahead and do other household chores - rather than standing there - back and forth - back and forth, with the conventional vacuum!!I'd almost swear that this little baby picks up more dust/dirt on the floor than my 'real' vacuum cleaner thought about.

I LOVE the person(s) developing this baby . . .oh if only he/she would develop one to dust the furniture!!!
