I love how small it is, and it takes great pictures. You can snap pictures quickly too. Review ID: 10000000003707513 Was this review helpful? Photos and videos are excellent. If you are looking for a great camera at great price, this is it. Highly recommended. Thanks CANON! Review ID: 10000000003699470 Was this review helpful? The macro lens is great for close up shots, the flash takes much better indoor shots than my last camera. There is a plethora of shooting modes. Supports SDHC and SD media. Battery life is long at approx 200 pictures. Neat effects include black and white with one other color shown. For instance you can take a black and white picture with a perfect red rose in the center. Very creative. 5 out of 5 Review ID: 10000000009123270 Was this review helpful? It is just as good with 7.1 megapixel pictures, a small size, rechargeable lithium ion battery, and a 2 gigabyte SD card, which is compatible with the Wii. However, it's missing the all important accessory: the neck cable! It's a strong, shiny metal cable that lets you wear the camera around your neck and show off its small, sleek design. Instead it comes with a wimpy, black, cloth wristband. It's also missing a leather carrying case. One more gripe I have is the pictures come out blurry if your hands are shaky, whereas the original ELPH didn't have that problem. Review ID: 10000000008494671 Was this review helpful? Variable ISO gives good shooting variety and the optical/digital zoom is far more powerful than the small form factor of the camera would lead the user to believe. All in all, a very good beginning camera for the digital photographer who needs a lot in a small and cheap package. Review ID: 10000000008468813 Was this review helpful? This a excellent camera for those who want to make some adjustments to "point and shoot" but are not interested moving up from the "point and shoot" to higher functioning DSLRs. It is small and box shaped fits well into a pocket which I enjoy. Review ID: 10000000007776586 Was this review helpful? Report this review 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. I purchased one of these locally for my 16 year old daughter for her trip to Europe back in April. She found it extremely easy to use and came back with some excellent photos. I decided it was time to upgrade from my 3.1 megapixel 4-year old Kodak (though it served me well) to something that fits in a pocket for anytime anywhere photos and this camera is a perfect compromise of size, ease-of-use, quality and price. The new model SD1100 has optical image stabilization and comes in colors other than silver or black/silver. I haven't used my camera a lot, but I haven't seen too many blurry shots from my daughter's photos unless there were really low light conditions. Since the new SD1100's are between $200 and $250, I think the SD1000 are a better value since they're discontinued and discounted more. The SD750 has a slightly larger screen without a viewfinder (bought one for my son) and takes comparable photos. And it shares the same NB-4L size battery so we always have charged up spares. As a professional photographer using latest Pro Digital SLR cameras, I can't tell you how happy I am with the purchase of this little SD1000 as my little toy to take to everywhere I go. Why this is an excellent camera to take around? First, is it's price: you can't get anything better than SD1000 with $170, second, this camera is designed to be so compact and filled with style you'll get lots of compliments for it. LCD Screen is really top-notch, accurate color display, fast refresh rate, and the resolution is higher than most other digital cameras of it's class, even the more expensive ones. Image quality is above average, high-iso pictures still gainly, but the grain is more film-like, thanks to it's powerful processor in the camera. Camera menu is easy to navigate, buttons are well placed. Battery lasts around 200-300 shots before it dies, which is pretty decent, I highly recommend a backup battery though. The 3x lens is great, but it does not have Image Stabilization. (for this you'd have spend an extra $50 on a IS model) On camera flash is quite good for its size, nice skin tone, lots of fun in-camera post process function, can even stitch panorama photos in-camera! It's got video recording function, but it's got flaws, the zoom and auto-focus will lock when you start recording, which is very bad. :( However, the video recording quality(and sound) is as good as a cheap DV! I love this little toy, it's the best money can buy. Review ID: 10000000005753751 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 02/16/08 by: 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Best point and shoot camera that I have ever owned. With face detection, white balance and digic III technology, I dont need to look any further, this is the ultimate camera. Great battery life, Great picture quality small and stylish. Review ID: 10000000005678888 Was this review helpful? Report this review 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. This camera is small, light and packs a "wallop" of picture quality. The battery lasts hours and quickly recharges. The pictures are sharp and it has tons of extras. We've owned lots of digi's and this is the best. Review ID: 10000000005659956 Was this review helpful? Report this review 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. So far I love the Camera though it has many features which I will probably not use though at least I can say that I have them. Positives are compact size, nice clear screen and most of all how fast the next picture is ready to take. It also powers on quickly. At this time the only negative is too many features and I am not sure how negative that really is. Review ID: 10000000005278872 Was this review helpful? First of all, I bought this Canon Powershot SD100 Digital camera for a birthday gift to my daughter coming up in February. My first impression when I see it posted in ebay is "wow, what a deal" so I purchased the camera thinking I can save some $$$. When I received the camera, it was not the same feature at least the color what was posted in ebay. The camera I intent to buy are all silver metallic and the camera shipped to me has a black color on the middle lens. On top of that, the shipping charges posted was $19.99, however, during checkout, the shipping charges was 22.99. This posting is very misleading. I tried contacting the seller and sent an email on 12/4 with no response. I will not purchase anything electronics via ebay as you can get the same deal when they come on sale at Best Buy, Circuit City & Fry's Electronic. The seller is hard to get a hold of. This is absolutely it. Fits in a pocket on my purse about the size of a cigarette box. Responsive, takes really decent video, but the photos are what sold me. Quality is superb. It shoots well with good quality shots and good zoom. I have a problem with the lens not protracting and retracting after a month. Customer service was great and I was able to return it with a full refund. Dr.Mike Review ID: 10000000004837933 Was this review helpful? Report this review 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. This camera is a perfect little compliment to all your toys. It's actually fairly easy to get use to as far as "using it" goes. if your the kind of picture taker that likes to fiddle there are a wide variety of setting to choose from and fully automatic as well. Not only does it take great pictures of various sizes and pixel it is sleek and attractive. Get a 1 or 2 gig card and don't mess around with the 32 that it comes with. you never know when the movie shot will come your way and with the 32 you won't have enough to play with. And pick up an extra battery on line there not as expensive, can't hurt.Battery lif is average depending how much playing your doing and of course flash. I love mine and use it often for a variety of shots. You will be happy you got this one. Review ID: 10000000004594851 Was this review helpful? This little camera provides everything the everyday user would need at a very affordable price. I took it on a recent trip and used it to take photos of the Thunderbirds flying over Waikiki Beach. Focus is fast, I had no problem getting great photos of the jets screaming overhead and it automatically corrects red eye. The images are very high quality and previewing them is a snap. I seriously have not found anything I do not like. I highly recommend this camera. Review ID: 10000000004515215 Was this review helpful? My previous camera was a canon and I liked many of the features and menues it had so I decided to stay in the Canon family. The SD1000 is great because it fits easily into your pocket and is ready to snap pics. at a moments notice. The 7.1 megapixel photos look great after they are printed out too. The only thing I don't like is that the battery is a rechargeable. (This is probably to keep the overall size small for the unit) The battery last fairly good, although if you know you will be taking lots of photos, purchase a 2nd battery and keep it topped off. All around a good buy. Review ID: 10000000004284355 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 08/03/07 by: 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Fast power up time. This camera is fairly fast but the red-eye is an all too common problem. I had a Sony Cybershot prior to this camera and the Sony never gave me red-eye but the camera was alot slower in dim light. Overall, I would rate this camera as average. Review ID: 10000000004078447 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 07/24/07 by: 1 of 3 people found this review helpful. Pros + Excellent clarity. Nearly professional quality. + Tons of extra modes and features to save time from Photoshop + Fits right into your pocket or case on your belt. You barely even notice it's there. + Surprisingly good video. + It's CANON Cons - Still has a trouble in low light situations. - Flash can tend to be very reflective. - As with all small cameras, the zoom sucks. - Digital Macro sometimes has trouble focusing on exactly what you want. - A pretty penny but it's worth it for what you get. Comments When compared with the rest of the army of digital cameras this size the SD1000 looks as if it could win the war alone. You won't be disappointed in the pictures that you get with this camera. Low light is still a pain however but it always has been. Until they make a camera that can shoot low light perfect, we'll just have to settle for something like this. Canon's Digic III often times makes the colors better than they were. I think that's what makes this camera so fantastic is the Canon colors and the Canon flash. Verdict Buy it. It's the best value out of any smaller cameras without having to go to amateur pro. Yet you will still get a lot of shots that will look as if they were taken with a pro camera. This camera is just that good. Review ID: 10000000004055964 Was this review helpful? I also used the camera myself and can attest to it's great attributes. Review ID: 10000000003884352 Was this review helpful? Report this review Ready to share your opinion with others?
