This was supposed to be like new. This book had torn corners. People's handwriting in it. Also at points throughout the book, there were coffee stains on the pages. You can still read it, but not give as a present to anyone - like i intended with a like new book.
Although Dr. Seuss books are children's books, this book is very motivating. A speaker at a work meeting had mentioned the book in his speech. If you ever need a quick reminder to stay positive, this book is an easy and fast read.
Many people think to only purchase a Dr. Seuss book for a child. Take the opportunity to look for this book in a bookstore where you can read through the pages. You will discover the words in this book are filled with encouragement and suggestions about dreaming. Failure is not an obtion. One must learn patience, patience and more patience.
Excellant book for any one. I gave a copy to a graduate from high school.
I purchase this book for anyone I know who is graduating from high school and even college. It's perfect because they are going places. It is always a hit because noone expects a childrens book! They ;ove it and I like giving a gift I know they won't get from anyone else
I purchased this book for my step-daughter who graduated from High school this month. This is the PERFECT gift for any high school or college graduate. It's Dr Seuss at his finest. He weaves a wonderful rhyming tale of sending the amazing you off to see the wonderful world full of all the excitement and splendors that await you. He acknowledges all that could seemingly go wrong but insists that the amazing, strong, smart you will become an astounding success. Dr. Seuss is perceived to be a children only author and this is one of a couple of his books that proves he can speak to the inner child in all adults. My step-daughter plans on becoming a teacher and has started a lovely children's library to share with her future students and this will also be a great addition to that library. I recommend it highly!
Most anything by Dr Sues is a must read, but this book was particularly fitting since we are currently traveling. My friend's normally energetic 2 year old loved the Horton books so I bought this one as well. He will sit silently for hours while my daughter reads to him. I think he likes the colorful pictures and rhymes. I recomend this book to all mothers and babysitters of young children.
It's a wonderful book written in typical Seuss fashion about all the challenges and accomplishments that a teenager/young adult may encounter in their lifetime. Great for graduation or a 16th birthday.
I guess this is one of the last Seuss books and now I'm buying them for my grand children. It teaches kids that there will be ups and downs in life, but to accept them all. To go with the flow.
One of Dr Seuss' best!!! It's about all the possibilities that exist in life, but also about expecting/encountering a few pitfalls along the way. It's about being true to yourself & having within yourself the ability to overcome any pitfalls & being able to see beyond them & stay on track. I bought it to send to Darren McFadden, #5 on the Arkansas Razorback football team & runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, because of the valuable lessons on life hidden among the zany rhyme & pictures that are Dr. Seuss.
This book I am going to give to my daughter for her birthday because it was part of her college graduation speech. It was very impressive so I wanted to give her something to remember it.
I read 'Oh, the Places You'll Go!' by Dr. Seuss to my nieces when it hit me, this book is about me and my search for a career. I wish this book was given to me when I was a senior in high school or upon graduation. It would have made me think a little bit more about the direction of my life and maybe I wouldn't have been so scared to try new things because my success rate would be at least 98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.
I received this book as a gift from a dear friend after graduating high school. It it very touching and serves as a special gift when given for a milestone. I have bought it and passed it along to others who have graduated from school, began a new job or encountered a bump in the road. This is a great gift because you can inscribe a personal message on the first page. Dr. Seuss' book allows for a person of any age to relate to the daily sruggles and triumphs that life brings our way.
Many people praise this book as an ideal gift for graduation, But it would also suite a man stricken by lamentation A man in prison, would be an excellent host, You could give them the gift, and then say in a boast Oh, the places you’ll go, could be far and could be wide, Just as long as it’s behind bars, because you’re not welcome outside Or wink and say, the places you’ll go, may be here, may be there, But you better go their quickly because you’re headed for the chair
We got it for a graduation gift.VERY APPROPRIATE GIFT! We loved it ourselves! Like many of his books, it had a wonderful message and lesson to be learned by a girl who would be graduating from high school and starting life on her own. She liked it very much, too. It was an inexpensive but lasting memory and we will purchase it again for someone.
This is an awesome book. Dr. Seuss is awesome! He puts your whole life into perspective in a childlike way so you can enjoy it. This makes a good graduation present. I definately recommend it
This book is for those graduating from high school or college. Written by Dr. Seuss , his whimsical rhyming about the future and what it may bring reminds you of when you read Dr Suess as a yong child. I bought is a gift for a young girl graduation high school who has had a few problems along the way. A lot of colleges sell it in their bookstore around graduation alot more costly than I got it from ebay.
