I bought it because i heard it was a good movie but i haven't watched it yet. We are very busy with 4 boys & just hasn't had time to watch it. hopefully soon we can.
bought this movie because it was an horror/thriller but was very disappointed in it. The camera that the film was made with was just to shakey and the ending was very very disapointing would not recommend
One of the best suspenseful movies I have seen in a long time. A lot of people didn't like the camera work saying it to be too shaky but I think that gave it the best effect! Great FX by far and a story line you could follow all the way through.
I decided to buy this movie because for one I loved it and two I plan on sharing it with every person who hasn't seen it or wants to see it again.
I wish I would have gone to see this in the theater and it is best played in surround sound because of the FX.
This was basically The Blair Witch with Aliens and a lot of special effects. Premise of the movie was decent but the way it was filmed was just a disaster. It's no wonder so many people got sick watching it. Keep the home movie type camera shots where they belong, for peoples home movies.
If you enjoyed the Blair Witch project then you'll love this flick. I never thought you could have a camcorder recorded movie in Top Notch Big Screen quality. Now you can truly feel the fear of a Monster invasion in North America!!
Overall it was good. The 1st person view with the shaky camera was better than that in movies like Blair Witch. It made it seem like a movie yet real. I wouldn't spend more than $15 on it but it was pretty good for the price I paid.
It was in a word boring, stupid, over rated..ok that's two words..but we really disliked this movie..it made no sense at all... all the camera jostling and yelling made figuring out what's going on impossible..the giant alien monsters were too much..come on people..this movie sucked!! I liked "The Village" more then this stinker..
Cloverfield is a truly engaging film that breaks many established rules of the horror/suspense genre, along with a Blair Witch style camera. I loved it, but I have many friends who say the opposite. They complain about the camera, lack of a plotline, and not knowing what's happening. I argue that those things make it seem like a much more realistic experiance, and more genuinely scary. It's also a movie that you can watch as many times as you want, and never catch all the hidden clues to what's actually happening. Know what you like, and decide accordingly.
I'm just gonna say i love a good ol fashioned lets destroy a major city flick. the POV camera was the reason i saw it in the theater and had to cop the dvd. the subtle jokes and knowing we all know some guy just like the camera guy. although we could have seen more interaction with the creatures.
This is an awesome movie! The action and story pull you in, and along with the camera you feel like you are right in the movie. If you get motion sickness, this may not be the movie for you. But if you are looking for a frightening thriler that will have you on the edg of your seat, look no further
This piece of art is remarkably the best monster movie. Cloverfield does not lose its link to reality and shows how a sudden event could alter our world. Academy award winning cammera angles promote suspense without using too much gore or reckless screaming. At least give this movie a rental to see if your interested. You will not be dissapointed.
It was annoying the way they shot it. And hard to keep up with and definitely not scary!!! I was expecting a lot more, there are some spots in it that are good but overall movie...not top 50 for me at all.
I bought Cloverfield because they I never ended up watching it at the theaters and it looked interesting to me. Watched it with 3 friends and 2 of them got dizzy from the camera angles. This creature gets shot at by military but either they keep missing or his skin is so strong that bullets and Tank shells cant penetrate.
maybe the directors wanted to end the movie with people asking the question "What happened to New York?" I would rather them show what happens. maybe im just listing out all the negatives...but what are the positives? Bad plot, average acting, bad camera shooting. I did not like the movie at all and regret buying it.
It's hard to say something about this film which was kept a secret until it's screening debut in the theaters. It kind of frightened me when I saw what was done with the Statue of Liberty head. It reminded me of 911 of which sadly to say; I saw the whole thing personally being that I worked in the area of the World Trade Center. The movie had it's point of suspense and clearly was made well for something that was filmed on a amateur basis by camcorder. It is something to watch and I like it.
Cloverfield is an all American Godzilla-style monster movie that you will either love or hate. I personally loved it, you may not. I would describe the movie, but A-that's probably already in the movie description section, and B-This is a review of the DVD. If you are like me and loved the movie, then you will notice a very, very wide selection of DVD's to buy. While all the same for the movie, some of them have gimmick bonus DVD's or CD's. One has a CD of all the party songs, and the other has a thirty minute documentary from HUD, while others have less remarkable specials. While the documentary may be nice to have, if you want the best collection, then you will want to buy a normal boring copy to watch and a steelbook to keep sealed. The steelbooks are extremely limited and were already sold out at the place where they were sold when I tried to get one, so pick one up on Ebay now before it is to late. While all the versions are only one disk, the features that are put onto the disk are good and a nice insight into how the movie was made, so pick up a copy or five right now.
Did not buy the DVD. Would not watch the movie again if it was given to me. I saw it when it first came out in the theaters. I had not previously heard of it, but went on the recommendation of a theater employee who had seen it. I watched it to the end, not because I was engulfed in it, but because I kept thinking that it just HAD to get better. I was WRONG!. This movie was a dismal disapointment from beginning to end. Apparently, most of the other twenty or so moviegoers in my theater felt the same. I heard some loud and mostly rude and/or profane comments, such that they felt they had been ripped-off. Some said they were going to ask for their money back. I did not join them, I just left and chalked-it-up to my mistake of taking someone else's opinion. I have not heard anything significant about this movie since then, untilnow as I ran across this review section with the Cloverfield title on display. If I had it to do over again I would complain to the management about feeling that I, too had been ripped-off. I know that no matter how good a movie is, someone will dislike it. I know as well that no matter how bad one is, someone will like it, or even think it great. Now you know what I think --- it stinks to high heaven!
This was the stupidest movie ever and is not worth the time or money! We bought it thinking it would be good but it is so slow and boaring. please take my advise and don't waste your time!
