Wicked - Original Cast (CD 2003)

I love the fact that listening to the music brings back the feeling that I'm still sitting in the theater watching the show. The music is wonderful, and the quality of the recording is superb. I would suggest to anyone that it is well worth the effort to get tickets to this show, and having the music is like icing on the cake!!

What can I say? My daughter told me all about this musical production that we would have to see one day if it ever came to our city. The most curious note is how reviled or adored this musical has become which leads me to think that it is larger than even the adulators suspect.In the same way that the old chestnut "Oklahoma!" will be rolling into town every so often so will "Wicked" many years after its creators have passed.
The recording shows remarkable restraint in that it does not give the story completely away. Now that we have seen a live production of "Wicked" starring Shoshana Bean and Megan Hilty we can use our memory to play the musical back to ourselves- a concept lost on the "YouTube" generation.Which leads to another thought;it would be grand to have the option of acquiring the touring cast version as I preferred Bean's passionate declaration to Menzel's yodel in "Defying gravity" and Hilty's transformation from immature,self-absorbed brat to benevolent matriarch. On the recording,Chenoweth has all the chops but is a little stiff dramatically.Happily, the most important turning point in the musical is NOT documented on the recording where the redemption of the characters Glinda and Elphaba occurs during "Dancing through Life".Its a visual that you have to create yourself and remember through the musical strains that linger.As corn dog as it sounds, unless you happen to be a complete automaton this recording and the musical as a work of creative art will "leave a hand print on your heart."

This Musical CD kicks ass man.
I got interested when the first time I acually-with no clue what the hell it was- became amazed by it was when one night, I was watching "Tonight with Jay Leno" and at the near end of the show,I saw a bunch of peple in all "green" dancing to some beautiful up beat music.I didn't know what the hell they were doing until Jay announced it after their performance that it was form a new musical called...WICKED!...and then the rest was hstory lol!

You have no iead of how infuactuated,addicting-and I mean addicting-the music is!

HIGHLY RECCOMENDED FOR EVERYBODY.Whether your a fan of musical theatre or not.If everybody had to chose at lease one musical album in their collection...let it be this one.you won't regret it,and it's worth every cent! :-)

Whil;e in Chicago, I learned that Wicked was a major attraction in the theaters. I ddidn't have time to go see it, so I thought, I'd give the original cast production CD a listen. I was overjoyed to find it on EBAY.

Saw the play in Minneapolis with the understudy playing Elphaba and it was spectacular! Very clever storyline. The music is a wonderful reminder, plus it stands alone.

I bought the Wicked cast CD for my teenage daughter. She loves musicals and has added Wicked to her favorites. I also enjoy listening to the music. Thanks.

My son really likes the music from this musical and wanted the CD for his birthday. I did not personally listen to it, but I'm sure it is a good one.

I watched the play Wicked in Chicago and I loved the music so I bought the Cd. I listen to it everyday. It is upbeat and makes me feel like I am at the play again.

I wanted to buy it because I love the music, but I ordered it June 28th 2006and still have NOT RECIEVED IT!!! It is now August 3rd, 2006.

It's great to sit at home and get what you want, without any of the aggravation of going store to store looking for something you aren't going to find anyway!!
