Far Cry (PC Games)

First person shooter game that is definitely worth the money.

Since there was only one thing that I did NOT like about this game I will start with the con....No Manual Save! Has built in check-points that if you need to leave the game multiple times or run into a particularly difficult area in the game, this will be frustrating.

There are many pros with this game, but the largest by far falls into one category: phenomenal graphics. The story line is like all other fps, over the top, as is the funny little voices the characters have--will make you giggle. And the sound effects are really good, such as walking through the jungle and hearing mosquitoes buzzing and birds chirping.

Havn't played the multiplayer, but for some alone time, Far Cry is really worth a try.

Although this title is several years old now, the graphics, storyline and gameplay are excellent. This is a game you can play many times and still enjoy it.

The graphics are stunning, and surprisingly don't require a high end machine to play well.

Every gamer should have a copy in their library.

This is a great first person shooter, and although it is a few years old, it still will take a lot of power to run it nowadays. Great graphics and areas to explore, but the AI will make the hardest man cry, even on easy, which really is the biggest factor that ruins the game experience, especially since you cannot save anywhere you wish. So far this is the most difficult FPS I've ever played, and you're pretty much dead at least once every checkpoint, but I still found it worth checking out and even purchasing at it's low price point. ($7-$20)

GRAPHICS
Domo 3 may be getting all the accolades for it's graphics right now but nothing is cooler than running abount a series of Island and being able to see the trees swaying in the wind a MILE away. Seriously, how can you ask for more? Booootiful boootiful graphics is all I have to say. When the game first starts you are in a small cramped cave, a la' Doom3, and your first thought it wow great visuals. This is basically the un-avoidable tutorial section. However it is quickly over and next thing you now you are stepping outside. @#$%@$#%@ holy crap!! I found myself rubbing my eyes. There was no way this was a real, it had to be some sort of fake out. Before me was a full fledged real life system of islands, with swaying trees, moving grass, wildlife, ocean water with a tidal effect! Did I say holy crap?? Soon you obtain a set of binoculars, and you think to yourself OK now I can find out how real this really is. Zooming in on an Island in the distance I was thinking to myself "no way they let me actually see this island in the distan....@$#%#@$% there are people on that island and they are moving!!" ...AND the parabolic mic in my Binocs is letting me hear what they are saying. And not a repetitive conversation! Real words, real story line dialogue! Holly crap.

STORY
I don't want to be crass but in this day in age we all should expect more from a game story line than find the $^%$ key! And Far Cry delivers, with a full fledges plot that drives the game play. You start out trying to evade capture from mercenaries on a set of islands, which turn out to be the experimenting grounds of a Dr. Moreau type, creating mutant monstrosities.

Slowly but surely you are pulled into a quest to put a stop to things, however it is all done in away that you are never thinking at any point WHY??

GAMEPLAY
Sniping from a mile away, driving boats, jeeps, flying hang gliders? Playing evade and capture. Stopping the mad rush of a swarm of mutants. Setting up a bomb to play up a radio bunker. All in one game? YES YES YES. Searching for the key to some crappy door just to shoot more baddies.. NOT IN THIS GAME! Nothing is cooler than watching a firefight between the escaped mutants and the Island mercenaries from a mile away, letting kill each other off, before setting up your sniper rifle and picking off the remainders. Of rushing through the mayhem to steal a jeep and escape across and Island while a full out battle rages around you. Strong AI rounds out this game, but enemies responding to noises that you make and using a variety of TACTICS to hunt you down.

All in all with this new price drop if you own a PC for gaming you cannot afford to pass up on this game!

Farcry...is a gift I gave to my husband. He's been glazy eyed from adrenaline rush, eversince, and it's not for me.

Great scenery, pretty challenging in spots.
Better to not play when fatigued, you'll bomb out big, but that's true
using any tech worth using. The story line is fairly captivating.
The critters definately get tougher to deal with as the chapters go along.

It is a great game.You do not have to follow a set course.I can't wait to see if they come out with a Far Cry 2

This is has become my favorite game. There are no negatives about it. What hits you immediatly is the awesome graphics. There are many weapons and the game lasts a long time but you never get bored of it. There is nothing more satisfying than using the machine gun in this game. And the shoot outs are breathtaking.

The graphics are good enough but then I found out there was a patch for it for the game so I downloaded the game patch and the graphics got even better.

Excellent game. This game was even more exciting than half life 2 in my opinion.

This is a must have game for pc gamers! The best graphics,the best game play to date. You can play this game over and over and use a different approach every time. It's fun and best played on the "hard" level of play. But you need to play it once on the medeum level before the "fun" begins on difficult.

Have a good computer and very good graphics card and turn up all of the options to see the eye candy. you will feel like you are there in the tropics.

WHAT CAN BE SAID, IT IS A GREAT GAME, GRAPHICALLY AND STORYLINE, IT COULD BE AB BIT LONGER BUT ALL IN ALL THIS GAME IS NEAR PERFECT, I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO BUY.

I purchased Farcry 2 months ago,and the game was very challenging,the Artificail Intellingence is even more aggressive than most first-person shooters I have played. The graphics are top-notch especially the backrounds of the Island and water physics. My only complaint is the multitude of enemies that are against you. I found myself reloading at the same checkpoint over and over again.

I was very impressed with every aspect of this game. A beefy graphics card will really add to this gaming experience. This shooter has some of the best PC gaming graphics out there, plus it is a real challenge. A good storyline, sweet weapons, and various elements of strategy. Very addicting!

Have you ever seen a car after a car wash, then seen it again after a hand wax job and tire shine? That is what this game is. It is a your typical excellent game with tons of eye polish. The enviroments are beyond the rating system for this review. The controls are rock solid and sounds are decent. Online play is great, especially the co op type games like capture and hold.

Nvidia users, install latest patch, video drivers, and rivatuner. in rivatuner, enable all 3 check boxes for blittering to make a smoother game, also disable vsync.

I thought it is a pretty good game. I haven't finished it yet but its pretty good.
I don't know what else to say about it. Its not real hard but I have to play it on my brothers computer until I upgrade my video card.

Great Game - Hard but challenging. Sweet graphics and the gore can be turned off! Realistic Guns - requires some stragetery

got hooked on this game at a friends. bought it for myself, but my computer (cheap celeron chips) doesnt do the game justice.

This is a good title and will provide several hours of entertainment.

Had to install an automatic update to allow the game to resume from pause mode after a saved game load.

This game is released in 2003 and I still wonder how it looked so great. There are also many ways to approach a mission so that's a plus. Besides looking good, the physics is the best I have experienced so far I think;the dead bodies are not just a particle but is part of the world objects. I remember killing a soldier, he dropped into the ocean, created some splashes and remain floating. However there is blood spreading out from his body making the water red....The story seems to lack sophistication but that isnt the main reason why you are playing this game. The gameplay is very fun too as u use different weapons drive jeeps speed boats etc..put u in many different situations of combat
