My husband swears by Magellan so we bought the 3100 for my 26 year old daughter for her birthday. She had never used a GPS before but within 5 minutes she was driving to her destination with her Magellan 3100 to help her. I love the fact that the maps are pre-loaded, unlike it's competitors. We turned it on and off she went. Entering a home address was simple and easy. The voice commands are perfect. The GPS allows you to choose a detour button if you get stuck in traffic or there is an accident ahead. You can choose the shortest distance, with freeways, without freeways ... all of which are extremely helpful and necessary herein Southern California. The GPS alerts you with a tone when it's time to make a turn and you can adjust the volume to suit your needs. There are useful POIs (points of interest) such as ATMs, shopping, etc and the GPS will take you to the closest one, if you like. The saving of Previous Destinations will prove to be a very useful tool.
I don't know what more I can say other than you should definately consider Magellan over the others out there.
I decided to buy the Magellan Maestro because I had borrowed one from a friend and really liked it. It makes traveling much easier and far less stressful when you know exactly how to get there without getting lost or wasting time asking for directions.
LOVE IT, BUT there's one problem, the battery doesn't stay charged very long. I needed an additional GPS, already owned a tom-tom. Have 2 vehicles. Needed one quick and inexpensive. This was really the answer.
Easy enough to use initially. VERY disappointed when I tried to update the program. It locked up. It is over two (2) weeks in the repair shop and I asked for the status, their reply is, "I apologize for the inconvenience that you are experiencing right now. The repair process takes 21 business days or 3-4 weeks so the unit is still in the repair center." Sounds like they take 3-4 weeks no matter what the problem is. Inconvenience, I certainly will not encourage anyone to buy their product. I also TRIED to but a US power adaptor. I got the cord, but they don't have the adaptor, and when I called, they couldn't tell me when they would be getting them in. Hopefully no one really "needs to count on using their product".
GPS is great, goes street name by street name plus name of exits on Freeways and the exit numbers. Gives directions well in advance to change lanes in plenty of time. East to program and read.
works great, I bought it for my wife and she uses it everyday it does need product updates but those do not come out untill 3rd quarter of the year but other than thtat no complaints
i like the product very much.. it is a navigation unit.. and it works very well.. the purchase was very smoth and the price was a bit lower then the stores.. overall very satisfied.. i decided to buy it because i am in traffic everyday.. i drive about 50 miles to get to work and at times i want to use a detour to avoid traffic..
got this gps end of april without even reading the directions its that easy to use...great for the 1st time gps unit. scale from `1 to 10 i rate this 11 lol very good product glad i bought it on ebay
Like all GPS's... they are good for those lost in unfamiliar areas or trying to get to a place where they don't know the streets. I found that using the GPS I bought takes me out of the way sometimes and would go a round about way to get to the same location. If you choose "shortest route" it wound take longer to get to the same place and "fastest route" might not use highways as much although the highway route would be faster. Over all, I would say it's a good item to have in the car. It certainly beats trying to read a road map. Just touch the screen and go!
GREAT! I love my GPS System. I purchased it after seeing how my daughter used hers and how it work at getting us from point A to point B. I take it every where, even if I'm not driving.
Like everything about it...Especially the price.Works fine...I saw some reviews that weren't so good. Some of them said after update it locks up.From what I've learned that happens all the time.My ONLY dislike is map updates won't be available until later this coming fall.Other than that I'm Happy I got it.
Great gps for the money.. The touch screen is easy to use and navigate the menu's..The voice is easy to hear and the chime bell when you have to turn is very helpful to my mother.. She loves this gps.. I purchased it for her and I have used to and love it.. I am going to purchase my own... A must have for any vehicle...
I bought this for my wife and I have to say it's not quite what I expected. I wish I had bought her a Garmin Nuvi like mine. It works ok but there are a few things I don't I don't like. First of all, hte mounting bracket is way too much and sticks too hard. I wish they had kept it just simple. It's also no very user friendly, Compared to the Garmin Nuvi. Also, it doesn't turn itself off when you turn your car off. The Nuvi goes off when the car if off and comes back on automatically when you turn your car on. You also get alot of extras with the Nuvi. For example you can customize your car, and also put your own picture as a screen saver. The Magellan doesn't have all this extras! Kudos Garmin Nuvi...you win this fight!
This thing works great, the only negative I may have is the fact that it does not seem to find alot of our POI's or Points of interest. I would put in a Target Department sotre that is only 10 minutes away, but yet it gives me one in Texas! I don't understand that, but for everyday directions it's great!
makes life easy i have a painting business and when a customer calls for an estimate all i need is there address and it takes me right to there drive way i was amazed all i need to do is listen to the voice telling me where to turn great tool i save so much time and never get loss i also purchased one for my daughter as a birthday gift shhhhhh dont tell her lol
I purchased the Magellan 3100 hoping it would take the place of map reading. The audio features are great, no need to take my eyes off the road. I LOVE this unit. NO Dislikes.Great Product. Thanks rheard7245
Product was exactly as it was described. Seller did an excellent job sending the product and in a timely manner. I had bought one for my boyfriend and he loved it and then I bought this one for my father. He also loved it. He is always travelling out-of-town for his work and he said it has helped him so much. I would definately recommend this product for anybody who is looking for a good GPS for an excellent price.
The Magellan Maestro 31000 is a nice starter unit. I have found it reliable and accurate. I wish it had more points of interest, but other than that it seems to work very well. I used mine in downtown Chicago on atrip and it worked great. For the price and features a good investment for the first time GPS buyer.
The magellan Roadmate 2000 works well. The map base is enough to get around, but not extensive enough to use some roads that have been put in in last several years. It does not tell you what road to turn on. But for the money it was worth every penny. The re-calulating feature is nice.
