This is by far my favorite book! I had to force myself to put it down to take care of my house. I think my roof could have blown away and I would have stayed in my chair reading. This is her best book yet. Many of the previous conflicts are wrapped up in this book, but new conflicts are brought about to continue the series. I think anyone would enjoy this book. And unlike many good books these days, the language is clean too. This is even something I'd let my kids read when they're a little older.

Of course I love this series. I am so glad there is a 4th book because this one leaves you hanging at the end. I want to know how she could betray her vampire love and kiss joshua?? Is she crazy??
Great read.

What's A Girl To Do When a Vampire & Werewolf Love Her
Review created: 08/07/08(updated 08/08/08)

Now that Edward has given in completely for his love of Bella and returned to her, she is torn between the bond she formed with Jacob during Edward's abscense and the love she could never let go of for Edward. Thoughout the book her guilt of hurting either one of them consumes her. Although she knows her heart is full of love for the vampire, she cannot let go of the guilt she feels when she causes the werewolf pain. Acording to a deal struck with the Italian vampire at the end of book 2 ("New Moon"), she knows she'll either have to become a vampire herself or die because she knows their secret now. Edward however has no intention of letting her heart stop. And yet a third tension in this book is Bella's desire to enter into a more physical relationship with Edward he refuses to move their relationship to that level without her first giving into a request of his own. (He is QUITE old fashioned !!)

Stephenie Meyer once again keeps tensions on all subjects high as she continues this dazzling series. Once again I could not put this book down. At this point in my reading of the series I had read the first 3 books in 4 days!! Personally I love it!

A Good Addition to the Series
Review created: 08/04/08

I loved Twilight and New Moon so, naturally, I had to read the next book in the series. Eclipse started out a bit slow and seemed to be going in circles for the first 100 pages or so, but once Edward and Jacob started getting along I felt like it was finally progressing and getting interesting. I can't wait to start reading Breaking Dawn.

Eclipse kept me dreaming of a Breaking Dawn!!
Review created: 08/03/08

My grandaughter Holly knows we share a love for vampire fiction. She had mentioned the "Twilight" books to me, so when i saw the recent trailer for the upcoming movie "Twilight"...i said..."hey, that looked awesome...let me borrow your books before the movie comes out?"...the horror...she'd got them from the library!! lol..i went straight to e-bay to get copies for BOTH of us...i bid all over the place to make sure i'd get two copies of them all...when UPS delivered, i ended up with 3 copies of the second book, "New Moon"...lol...i had gone too wild with bidding...so i told Holly to give it to a friend..if i gave it to my daughter, Jeni, she would have made me buy 2 more!!.lol..then i zoomed thru all 3 books, loving the series as much as Holly did. It just gets better and better...i've waited til this weekend for the 4th book, "Breaking Dawn", always dreaming of running thru the woods with long black hair...i like Edward, but dream of BEING the werewolf, Jacob!!...i'm probably twisted!! lol...so even tho i call it "Anne Rice-lite", this series is totally GREAT, and i recommend all the books highly!! ...oh, and tell all your friends...they'll thank you, like this grammy thanked Holly!!

  Couldn't put it down!

I love Eclipse! I'm a fan of the Twilight series and this book was great! Although I found a couple parts of the book that I didn't like, the majority of the book was great. *SPOILERS*The parts of the book I didn't like was that I did find Bella a little annoying at times during the book almost whiny. This somewhat annoyed me because I felt that Bella shouldn't act like this, it wasn't her. I also, fell off my chair when I read the part where Bella said she was in love with Jacob. That shocked me because I didn't think Bella could really love Jacob I mean Jacob was there for her but he's no Edward. The other thing is Bella wants to spend eternity with Edward but won't marry him. I get his reasons but it seems a little stupid especially when Edward said that Bella didn't have to marry him and then Bella decides to marry him anyway. It I guess I could see why Bella did this but it still annoyed me a little bit. Other then that I loved the book and can't wait for Breaking Dawn which will be just as good or better.

Young People's Book but any one who likes a good vampire tale will also enjoy~
well written and keeps up a good Pace~ solid fun read~~

I give this a solid 8 out of 10 for great follow up story in this Trilogy by this author~

There is nothing not to love about Eclipse (as well as the first 2 books in the twilight series) Eclipse is another adaptation to a timeless love story that will live on forever. Like Jane Austen before her, Stephanie Meyers name and stories will live on forever. Whoever reads these books will be struck by its magic, and stunned by its soul.

I am in love with the twilight series. This is a great YA book, good also for adults wanting a squeaky clean read. The confilct and dillema are heart wrenching and the story and imagery are vivid and captivating.

  A Dalliance with Wolves
Review created: 07/03/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

In my review of Twilight, I said that the book had more in common with "Catcher in the Rye" and "Pride and Prejudice" than it did with any vampire novels or stories. That still holds true, although be certain: I'm not comparing Twilight or New Moon to these books in terms of literary quality. There are few that match either.

In New Moon we miss the vampires for most of the story, and Bella spends time with her friend Jacob, an Indian fated with becoming a werewolf, and fated to hate all "bloodsuckers", regardless of whether or not the bloodsuckers took human lives. (Btw, that little bit is cleared up at the end...what exactly their treaty entails. It's interesting, kind of, but I have to wonder if the author thought of it as the story was being written, and that it wasn't planned when the "treaty" was first mentioned. I suppose it doesn't matter.)

If you're reading this story because you like vampire stories, you will be disappointed. Edward's only around for a bit less than 1/3 of the book. When he is around, however, his presence is appreciated. One thing that the author didn't do this time, and it was similarly appreciated, was to have Bella writing down every single thought that she had regarding his absolute perfection (remember, this is a first person narrative).

While spending time with "the wolves", Bella goes through some interesting growth patterns. I say interesting, because I'm not entirely certain that I followed them or that if I understood them that I agreed with them. That said, I've never been a teenage girl, and the author has been a teenage girl, so I have to bow to her experience in this.

Many readers will look at Bella's behavior during her "dalliance with wolves" as bizarre and entirely unbelievable. I don't think they were. For anyone that has had the absolute love of their life torn from them, with the *absolute* belief that this love would not return, and if you happen to be emotionally immature to top all of this off, your behavior wouldn't be too far off from Bella's. I'm not saying exactly like Bella's, just not too far off.

Again, this is not a vampire story. The fact that vampires were not around in this book as often as some may have liked did not lessen the quality of the story. What was missing, though, was the urgency, and the mystery. For example, we never knew why, in Twilight, Edward recoiled upon first seeing Bella until the very end. We had a reaction, and a resolution, and during that time we had lots of questions. That type of immediacy was missing here. Everything was rather straightforward.

When Edward lies to Bella, we know that he is lying, and we know that there will be resolution. The problem is that we know he's lying, and we know the resolution won't be too surprising.

I did enjoy the unique take on werewolves, but I felt that since we had seen so much of the vampires in the first book, that we should have seen and felt more of the werewolves in this book.

One thing that I found particularly frustrating was the similarity of emotion that both Jake and Edward have for Bella. Yes, Bella is a clutz, and she definitely needs protecting. But to have two main characters, in two separate books, respond to her in a nearly identical manner (both fearing for, and being vocal about, her need to be less careless), is tough to buy.

There were some hints of future issues between the Cullens and Jake's clan. I hope we see them. And I hope that this story can survive the necessary metamorphosis

Review created: 06/06/08

This is an excellent book. I would recommend it to anyone who loves romantic storie filled with twists and turns. Not only is this the love story of Bella and Edward, it is the story of trust, and overcoming impossible obsticles. Meyer writes exquisitely. Readers can feel the pain Bella and Edward go through when their apart. This is a remarkable book. Once it is started, it really is impossible to put down. Buy all three books at once, as soon as one is finished, you'll want the next one immediately. Look forward to the fourth book, coming out August 2nd!!!
