Pirates of the Carribean-Dead Mans Chest
Review created: 02/02/07

If you saw the Legend of the Black Pearl and loved it.....then you should like this one well enough. I personally did not fint it as light and humorous as the first in the pair. However, it's slightly darker portrayal of events and characters was still quite an entertaining film. The special effects were absolutely flawless. The music good and suitable to each scene. And the acting was in my oppinion....superb. The action never really stops in this film and I would most gladly recomend it for any pirate fan over the age of 12.

I bought this for a Christmas gift to my family. The kids had been anticipating it for a long time, as they loved the first movie. Dad still gets a kick out of watching how the movie was made. And I love watching my favorite actor, Johnny Depp. Now everybody wants to see the third sequal!!!
Happy Viewing, Walzers123

Purchased as a gift. Quality as promised.
In the continuing saga a fun movie with
unusual ending or maybe another beginning.
Would recommend if you liked the first movie.

  A well thought-out sequel!

Dead Man's Chest was an excellent sequel, hands down. It was a well thought-out sequel for sure, even though the ending is abrupt and obviously set up for a third installment. I definately think DMC was darker then it's predecessor, but overall very exciting! I love how all the old characters are brought back after what happened in the first movie! Also, the animation for the human/seacreatures on the Flying Dutchman was really well done. The score is also awesome, combining the previous composer's musical thoughts with the new one's. A MUST SEE!

  AWESOME PIRATE MOVIE

Pirates of the Carribbean one was a movie both me and my family really enjoyed. It was action packed with humor.J. Deep did a great job as an actor in this flim. When we heard there was a next squeal to Pirates of the Carribean, my family so exicted! I was very pleased to see the same main actors and actress as the first one. It was full of action and the special effects were better than the first one. It had spunk and the movie flowed from beginning to end.It sure is not a boring movie. This is a movie you and your kids will enjoy. Both Pirates of the Carribean movies are a collection to keep and enjoy time after time. So round up the family, grab a bowl of popcorn, and watch Pirates of the Carribean!

Although not as dark as it sounds, Dead Man's Chest delivers the goods and hints at many more adventures to come. I don't know if the Pirates writing crew is making this up as they go along or if they have a vision, but this film certainly hinted at a much broader vision of things to come with numerous references to past battles, loves lost, and hearts kept under lock and key. It is a much more encompassing movie than was The Curse of the Black Pearl, but it is much more loose in structure. Verbinski keeps the action going despite what is a pretty complicated set of stories, more or less interwoven together but ultimately left unresolved. Johnny Depp may get top billing but it is Orlando Bloom who takes the lead in this movie, holding his own against sea-monsters and the King's men alike. With nothing more to go on than the image of a key, Will Turner and Captain Jack Sparrow are reunited (sort of) in an attempt to unlock a chest that offers a strange treasure indeed. Keira Knightley is reduced to a stowaway, with some memorable scenes, but not as big a role as she had in The Black Pearl. Bill Nighy steals the show as the incredible Davy Jones, a half man/half sea monster that draws on Captain Nemo more than the Flying Dutchman, but develops a troubled dark soul all his own. Naomie Harris makes for a fetching Voodoo Queen who ultimately unlocks the secret of this adventure, aiding Captain Jack and crew on their dark voyage. Jack Davenport returns as Norrington, a much more compelling character this time around than he was in The Black Pearl. Having fallen from grace, he completes the triangle that makes for some pretty tense action, especially in the closing scenes.

Be warned that Dead Man's Chest is an open ended movie, setting up what promises to be a thrilling third installment to Pirates of the Caribbean. Not only that, it hints at possible prequels because it covers so much territory in this sprawling movie that it leaves you craving for much more.

I knew the minute I left the theater that I was going to buy the DVD. Just one suggestion, look on the back of the DVD case prior to purchase because most of the copies are made for wide screens and not full screens.

The second movie of the pirates trilogy is a definate must-have. With high action scenes and great acting, this story takes you back to before Captain Jack Sparrow was Captain of the Black Pearl. With some frightening scenes that I do not recommend for small children, this movie is a definate must for any avid DVD collector.

I think the word 'wow' pretty much sums up this movie. It was excellent! It definitely meets the standards set by the first movie.

This movie starts off on Will Turner's and Elizabeth Swann's wedding day, but the wedding is cancelled because of warrants for Will's and Elizabeth's arrests for helping Captain Jack Sparrow escape. Will is allowed to go out looking for Jack Sparrow to retrieve something from him (his compass) in exchange for his and Elizabeth's freedom. Will obviously runs into problems once he finds Jack. We find out that Jack has a debt to pay to Davy Jones, which he sends Will to settle for him and to find the key to the Dead Man's Chest which contains the heart of Davy Jones, the reason Will goes along with it is because Jack promises to give him his compass in return for finding the key. Once Davy's heart has been stabbed he is killed and all people (in this case mostly dead people) are freed from their debts to him. That is the shortened version, but there is still a lot more to this film. There are a great deal of hilarious parts in this movie as well, it will definitely keep you laughing.

The only bad part of this movie is that it ends with a cliffhanger. But it is very very entertaining.

If you are a fan of the first movie, or of Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom then you will love this movie!

Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest

Wow...

Stunning visuals, superb acting, breath-taking special effects, incredible fight sequences, and devilish villians make Dead Man's Chest one of the must see films of the year.

Johnny Depp is back and better than ever as Jack Sparrow, Bloom and Kneightly are superb in their roles as well, and the rest of the supporting cast does a stupendous job.

The Villians are absolutely terrifying (maybe a little too terrifying for younger audiences) and the costumes are incredible.

DMC had me on the edge of my seat through the entire 2 1/2 hours of action and adventure. And DMC has the one thing that the original film was lacking, an absolutely superb ending. I can't wait for the next film in this amazing series.

Final Verdict:

5/5

Rent or Buy?: This is one of the must own films of 2006. Fun for the entire family!!!

IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE. Thank you.

Why Is The Rum Always Gone???
Review created: 12/05/06

In this, the second Pirates movie of the Trilogy, we learn more about how Jack Sparrow (Captain), became Captain of the Black Pearl. We learn of the deal Jack struck with Davy Jones to be Captain of the Black Pearl for 13 years. With the time limit being reached, Davy Jones has come to collect the soul and make Jack Sparrow a permanent member of his crew. Will Jack be able to squirm his way out of this one?? Will the Kraken get his beloved Pearl, Will Elizabeth and Will Turner be hung before they have the chance to get married? All these and many more questions to be answered in this installment. Highly recommend! Savvy??
