Hewlett Packard 12c Scientific Calculator

This is the Gold Standard of Financial Calculators in the mortgage business. It is my third one...I guess other people like it too because if you leave it around, it might disappear. Once you understand how it works, it becomes second nature. You can amortize, compute future values, depreciate, compound interest or figure out the day of the week someone was born.

Be prepared to practice using it as it does not work like a regular calculator. Again, once you practice with it, it becomes second nature.

These are great calculators. My Dad has used one for decades! Never had a problem with it! Just bought another one because he misplaced his other one and couldn't be without it! Sturdy and a real workhorse--decades of heavy daily use without a problem.

I use to work in office. The best calculator to financial services, but I bought to re-sell in Brazil.

Good calculator, espetacular seller. Very honest, sweet and fast. HP 12C is very expensive in Brazil: in eBay is very short valour and best conversations for sellers.

I had used a 12-c for 20 years and lost mine. I needed to replace it and decided to give ebay a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience..

I have owned an HP-41cv with the financial pack and bought a 12c for the portability and longer battery life. I absolutely love it and used it every day with my work. I even went so far as to find an on-screen emulator for it to use on my Windows machine for those days when I forgot and left it at home. It's efficient, fast, and does more than I need. The documentation is first rate with excellent examples. Sad story is I lost it a few weeks ago and now have to buy another one... will you folks quit bidding them up?

I bought this calculator for a Business Finance course, but it can be quite useful outside the classroom. I find it surprisingly easy to use, even though simple addition is done differently than on a normal calculator. It acts more like a computer in that it has built-in functions so you don't have to memorize formulae. The students in my class with other financial calculators seem to have a more difficult time using them to solve computations; so if you need a financial calculator, go with the HP 12C. It has been around for 25 years for good reasons.

My input for the HP12C Financial Calculator is not valid for this evaluation. I was purchasing a "Hewlett Packard 12C Scientific Calculator" according to the title and description, but the description did mention finance features. Having owned an 11C but not a 12C, I did not realize that the Scientific 12C did not carry financial functions. So, it was a misunderstanding all the way around. Now, I have a calculator that I can not use and have to resell it. If anyone wants a nearly new (in original box), let me know.

I'm an appraiser in training & needed a HP 12c Calculator for my classes & the best place to get anything is on EBAY!!!!! (One mans junk is another mans treasure). I wanted to get one but didn't want to spend $80 to $90 for one at a local retail store, so I found one brand new on EBAY & I love it. It works great & helps me with my career in Real Estate & Appraisals!

My husband had to have this calculator in order to do his job. This is the only type he has ever used int eh mortgage business and he loves it. THe one he had been using died and he was without one for a week or two and it absolutely made him crazy!

My classes for real estate appraising required that I purchase the HP 12C. It is a powerful financial tool. It can do much more than I will ever learn (more than I care to learn). My husband uses computer spread sheets to figure amoritization of loans. This calculator does the figuring quickly. Instructions on how to use it were included in the class. It uses reverse polish notation which is different than most calculators. It takes some instruction to learn to use. I bought a used version because I needed it for the appraisal classes and it is a must for the state test. However, I don't know how much I will use it other than that. So a used version was a cost saving measure. Many of my appraisal calculations are performed on the computerized form. I don't have a need for this degree of complex calculating on an every day basis. It does perform as advertised.

This is an awesome calculator for college finance, banking or real estate. Make sure you play with it BEFORE you need it because it is a bit tricky if you have never used a financial calculator before. I bought this for a junior level finance class and was glad I made the purchase. Invest some time into having someone show you some shortcuts, as the manual is 200+ pages (too much reading for me). It's easy to use, once you figure it out.

Platinum and 25th anniversary have the choice of using RPN or ALG entries.

The 25th anniversary version is really nice.
The new case that comes with this is a really good upgrade, but larger.
So...you might want to buy slip case if you keep this in your shirt pocket. Of course it'll do fine without it IF you don't keep your pens and pencils in there too.

This is the 4th HP12C I have purchased in the last 21 years. I have not seen anything more reliable or easier to use.

I wanted this calculator because I am currently going to school for a fincance degree, and let me tell you this makes a lot of calculations much easier. I would reccomend this calculator to anyone in the finance world. I do have to say though the manual is about 200 pages long so I haven't had the time to read it all which makes me limited to what I can do right now. But once I know how to work everything it'll be great!

Perhaps that this calculator does not have all the functions you can find on some more powerfull and recent calculators belonging to the HP business calculator family (14B, 17B, 17BII, 19B and 19BII) but how to resist to the only remaining model belonging to the famous and elegant 'Voyager' serie? 10C, 11C, 15C and 16C are gone forever and it is very difficult today to find one in excellent condition. With the 12C, you will find all the elementary business functions you need.

You can find this model new in 3 different versions:
- The standard version with gold metal display bezel,
- the platinum edition, much faster, with platinum like metal keyboard and display bezel,
- the 25th anniversary version (only available in 2006, hurry up!!!) which share the keyboard of the standard version and the platinum like metal display bezel of the platinum version with a 25th anniversary logo.
