This is one of the best role playing games I have played yet. I especially like the story line. I think that anyone who would take a chance on this game would definatly get their money's worth. It is one of my most often played games.

I bought this game for my girlfriend for Christmas. She loves the game. It combines everyones favorite little Italian plumber with great RPG elements. Fast pace battles, excellent story line, and plenty of additional quests to do on the side. The only problem with this i could think of is it's childish appearance, but the game was excellently made. Has great replay value. Super Mario RPG is overall a great game for any age and any game player.

This is a classic RPG for the SNES, and in my opinion is one of the greatest games of all time. The gameplay, story, and even the visuals are awesome and combine to create an awesome game with tons of replay value.

  Super Mario RPG review
Review created: 12/17/06

Created by Squaresoft, developper of Final Fantasy series, Mario RPG was released during the last years of the SNES and it might be why it's so great. The 3D animations are excellant, music is simply great (even if many song are only fair) and the story is also excellant (well, for a Mario game). It's funny to see Mario, Peach and Boswer team up to bring back peace in the Mushroom Kingdom.
The only negative point is the difficulty of the game, which is too easy, but for young children, it will be okay. Honestly, I've never meet someone who've played the game and it's still funny to play this game more than a decade later.

I bought this game for my nine-year-old son and he just loves it. The graphics are really cute. The music is very contagious and he hums the themes from it all the time! This game is just right for kids...it isn't too hard and it's not so simple that they'll finish it really quickly. Sometimes he gets frustrated when he doesn't reach a save point after a hard battle and then has to do it all over again, but that is his only complaint.

  Wonderful game!

If you have a SNES you should definately buy Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Super Mario RPG was my favorite video game of all time and after picking it up here I can still see why. I'm falling in love all over again!

The music is catchy and not too irritating and the graphics are supurb for the system! Controls are a bit non-intuitive but easy to get down.

The storyline is a little different from your typical Mario game. It starts with the basic Princess Toadstool-is-kidnapped-by-Bowser-and-it's-up-to-Mario-to-save her, but just as you do, a giant sword falls into Bowser's castle and you are knocked back to your home! You return to find out the Smithy Gang is trying to take over the world! And they still have Peach!

Thus begins one of the best Nintendo games ever!

This game is great for gamers of all ages and is what got me on my RPG kick. ^^ It's full of humor and great characters, not to mention a fun story. But don't just take my word for it; pick it up and see for yourself. ^^

They really ought to make a sequal for this. (Paper Mario is not a true sequal.)

I just finished the game and frankly, if I had of died on the last boss I would not have redone it; the fighting was that tedious for me. Let me start out by saying that the music and sound of the game was good; it never got on my nerves. The world was large enough and diverse in its game play and look. The characters and storyline were never boring with some character popping up when you least expect it. Leveling up didn’t seem like a chore at all. There where a couple side quests I didn’t do like you had a chance to jump for a period of time. Neither did I fight to beat this guy to the end as another side quest. It did irritate me that I didn’t get the 50 Yoshi coins, only 48 and I almost cared enough to search for more but didn’t with further thought. The game was fun enough but when it came to fighting the bosses and sub-bosses it took too long. Fighting for such a long time just made fighting so repetitive for me. You could only hold a certain amount of items so you would have to think about who, and what items you were going to play with. I wish I could have been able to switch party members while fighting. So I end up doing pretty much the same thing through-out the fight. Adding all this up and for me, I would get bored and a bit frustrated in the fighting. I had enough fun to keep playing the game, but with the former issues the game just didn’t do all that it could have. If you don’t care about the possible (in your eyes) petty issues then I would say the game has held the test of time. There are plenty of games even now, on the Gba or DS that look about the same. I will give this a high score for all the positives I have listed. I think I reasonably described my issues with the game so you can judge for yourself if it would or would not be a problem for you.

The second best RPG of all time
Review created: 06/06/06

Yes is is old school, yes it is mario, but some of the best game play elements can be found on this game. Final Fantasy VII is the only game that I have played that tops this behemoth of a game, it covers it all and you can continue on the adventures on the N64's Paper Mario, how sweet is that? I think for an epic adventure ou can barely get any better than Super Mario Rpg. The Guide is a must so you can find the super secrets like the invisible clues and the such without it you will be lost or paying too much for items. Have fun and enjoy in what 16 bit (32 if you want to be technical) marevels were made of, and finally understand what weak games they put out now, really means.

  super mario rpg: a masterpiece
Review created: 06/01/06
by:

mario rpg is a great game. it has a good plot, cool characters, and of course it's mario. it has a great leveling and battle system, unlike the more modern rpgs that seem to think that the more complex it is the better. the same goes for game flow in general, it doesn't send you off on meaningless quests that are nearly impossible to accomplish without a strategy guide, instead it guides you through the game without neccessarily holding your hand. mario rpg is a great buy for anyone who likes rpgs or mario.

  greastest rpg of all time.

well to start off, i would just like to say i cant believe no one has reveiewed this game yet. this game has a huge cult following. and this is not only the greatest mario gam of all time, but the grreatest rpg of all time.
if you have ever played the game paper mario for N64, then this is the same idea. becuase paper mario is the sequel to this game. and we all know how great paper mario was, well its that plus even better.

graphics- if you didnt have the sysem and didnt see the controller you would sware its a N64 game, the graphics are without a dout they are the best for snes.
gameplay-the gameplay is similar to the 2 mario & luig superstar sagas game for gameboy and ds, because they are a spin-off of the same formula of this game. and the gameplay is fabulous. controlls are tight and never lag behind.
story- well its a mario game; princess gets kidnapped and you have to save her.
replay value- fantastic replay value. this game is rather long which is a good thing since this game is a complete masterpeice.
price- the game is rather exspensive for a snes game. you can get it with just the game. that runs about $25. i got it for $45 with a manuel.
overall- 10/10

in conclusion this a must have for any nintendo fanboy, mario fanboy, or anyone that enjoys nice wuality old school gaming. this game is truly one of the greatest games of all time and i suggest you go bid on a copy right now!and please leave feedback as to if this revieew is helpful or not.thank you!

Super Mario RPG: - Mario and Bowser Square Away Their Differences
Review created: 06/21/08
by: jeremy1456-- a member of Epinions and Lead in Games

Pros:
Great Graphics and Soundtrack, TONS of Hidden Stuff and Mini-Games, Good Storyline, Fun

Cons:
Some Awkard Jumping Mechanics

Developers Squaresoft and Nintendo are two of the biggest giants the industry has ever, and probably will ever see. They make very different styles of games from one another, and many gamers wondered if the two flavors taste good together. That question was answered in the mid 90s when Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was released. They proved to be a match made in heaven - Mario RPG is simply one of the finest role playing games ever made. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars Super Mario RPG begins in the same vein as nearly every other Mario title - Princess Toadstool is...

Mario and Bowser join forces!? It's Super Mario RPG
Review created: 11/11/04
by: flamepillar -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Flawless blend of action and RPG elements, colorful atmosphere, great sense of humor.

Cons:
Tough to control jumping at times, "too easy"

"Here come the RPG's," I once remember reading on the cover of a magazine. It only made sense that, eventually, the collective minds of Nintendo HQ in conjunction with SquareSoft, were going to doubly capitalize on the popularity of RPG's and the already-ubiquitous Mario franchise. Super Mario RPG was born, and my friends, what a game. Super Mario RPG (RPG = "Role Playing Game") utilizes a colorful blend of classic Mario elements (and gameplay) and a simple RPG engine on the old Super NES console, still one of my favorite gaming systems of all time. As the player, you'll find yourself...

Super Mario RPG - One of the best RPGs for SNES
Review created: 01/26/04

Pros:
Graphics, story, mini games, characters

Cons:
A tad short...

I've always been a big fan of Mario games so I decided to check this game out. Developed by Square and Nintendo and originally released on May 1st, 1996, this game has really impressed me, graphically wise, and with the interesting story and characters. The game really feels like a classic Mario adventure. Story Oh No! The princess has been captured by Bowser(again) and you start with Mario who ends up goes to Bowsers' castle to rescue her. Once you end up beating Bowser (the cinema is displayed quite comically) the whole place starts shaking and a giant sword crashes into the castle. Mario...

Nintendo and Square Combine to Create a Fantastic Mario RPG
Review created: 01/26/04
by: brendan2 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Excellent graphics and sound, fun characters, interesting story, lots of mini-games

Cons:
None - a little short, but not if you do all the optional stuff

When I first heard that two of the greatest gaming companies, Nintendo and Squaresoft, were working on an RPG starring Mario, I was excited but a little skeptical. After reading about the game in one of my Nintendo Power magazines, I decided to try it because I like Mario games and RPGs. I was surprised to find that Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars exceeded my expectations in almost every aspect. The Story The game begins like almost every other Mario game: Princess Toadstool is kidnapped once again by the fiendish King of the Koopas, Bowser, and Mario runs off to save her. But...

Mario in his first, and last RPG
Review created: 07/17/05
by: tommy_lop -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
it's a simple and easy RPG

Cons:
it's a simple and easy RPG.

I got Super Mario RPG several years ago, back when the SNES was still around. It s what got me turned on to RPG s and what led me into getting into serious RPG s like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. I remember Nintendo billing it has Mario s first and last RPG, which of course isn t the truth. It s been a while since I played this so about a week ago I dusted off my SNES collection and pop this game into it. It s a fun game and it s definitely a great place to start if your wanting to get into RPG s, expert RPG players might want to check it out has well but it is a bit on the simple and...
