Pros:
Big hair at it's finest, I bet Brad is real proud of this one...heehee
Cons:
nope...i loved it
this is by far one of the greatest screen performances of the beloved Brad Pitt. It in no way surprises me that he has made it to where he is today after seen this cinematic masterpiece. I will admit that I had never even heard of this movie till I saw it advertised on Comedy Central but after seeing it I wonder why it isn't more popular among Brad Pitt fans. I spent the entire two hours falling off the couch because I was laughing so hard.
Brad plays an out of work, up-and-coming musician trying to make his mark in a big city. He has a bunch of friends, who all look like bums if you ask me, who get together once and practice. One of these bums however, is the great Samuel L. Jackson. It's only a bit part since he is on the screen for about a whole 5 minutes but it fun to see them before they were famous. Brad goes thru several women throughout the movie and has several encounters with the weirder people of this strangely sparse city.
There are several things I like about this movie that make it worth seeing more than once. First, there are several characters Brad interacts with during the first half of the movie that, at the time, seem completely unrelated. I wont go into who or what because it wouldn't be as much fun to see the movie then. The funny thing is that, though they all seem unrelated, they are all connected to brad and eachother by another character in one big circle. By the end of the movie they all have something to do with two other characters even though they don't know it. You really need to watch every person to catch the relations between them.
Another thing about this film that makes it a keeper is that Brads character seems almost obsessed with his custom made shoes and they are the focus for several scenes in the movie.
The third thing that will make this movie a cult classic is the fact that throughout the entire movie Brad has a huge hairdo. I mean this is a straight out of the 80's, half a can of hairspray to keep it up, hairdo. And the best part is that no one really ever says anything about it.
Whether you like Bard Pitt or think he's just another pretty face on the big screen, this movie will make you smile. I think you will even want to watch it twice. I know I am on my way to the video store hoping they have this sure to be cult classic. Make sure you invite a bunch of friends over to watch it too, this shouldn't be watched alone, no one would believe you.
