I am a huge Prince fan, and absolutely love this album! Tracks 6, 11, and 12 are my favorites, but I love all the sides. Some of the songs have a religious aspect to them, but he doesn't make it sound that way. Some of the songs sound like old Prince! Out of a 5, I give it a 10!
Prince is back and better than ever! Not the he ever left but this piece of work is by far his best work since the early days. As a true Prince fan I fell head over heels for the 3121. Black Sweat has got to be one of the best Prince songs to come from the man in years! DrNHL says, "Prince keeps it real and is back to the glory days" buy it, play it and PARTY LIKE IT'S 2999!
Prince's 3121 CD is Prince's first #1 album since hte 1989 Batman soundtrack. In the first week - 3121 sold 183,000 copies. Prince's 3121 is funky, clever and gets back to Prince's roots - while I enjoyed Musicology (and so did the critics) - 3121 gets back to the good old days of Little Red Corvette and When Doves Cry.
Hands down one of the better Prince CD's! Only Prince can get away with using vintage synth sounds, and still make it sound fresh! You won't be disappointed! The guy just keeps on bringin' it...

You'll Be Screaming Like a White Lady (Or Not): 3121, Prince's Post Hall-of-Fame Sophomore Slump

Pros: "The Dance" reminds us of just how sexy (and genius) Prince can be
Cons: Much of the rest is appealing, but flat and insular.
I wonder what it must be like, sometimes, to be y know Prince. What must it be like to suffer from his unique artistic affliction, a thirty-year case of musical effusiveness (some might call it dysentery) that has made him one of the most celebrated and simultaneously ridiculed artists of our time. He hasn t had a bona-fide radio hit since Clinton s first term in office, and yet he remains far more prolific than most artists half his age. One of the things I ve always admired about Prince was the apparent effortlessness of his creation the fact that the guy could snore the grooviest groove on.

Prince's "3121": Cleaned Up & Still Sexier Than You'll Ever Be

Pros: Not classic, but still great Prince music.
Cons: The album title means what exactly?
Five years ago, I didn t think I d ever see the day when I d be interested in a new Prince album, much less reviewing one. Five years before THAT, I would have smacked you if you d even suggested that Prince would have done anything less than interesting. The Minneapolis native is arguably the most influential solo musician of the past twenty-five years. He s proficient on just about every instrument there is. He ranks with the best of soul vocalists. He s equally capable of producing a blistering arena rock anthem as he is of making a smooth ballad that would make Marvin Gaye and Al Green...

Prince gives us new grooves from the magic, purple, spiritual and orgasmic music machine

Pros: The Maceo Parker led horn section is off the face, couple of very funky grooves.
Cons: The ballads were forgettable, not enough screaming guitar work.
One of the telling indices of greatness in the Prince catalog is the sidemen laying down the grooves. Often as not it is side-women who tell the tale, as Prince loves surrounding himself with the hottest chic and chick players in the biz. On his newest joint 3121, Prince surrounds himself with the requisite sexy side-girls, as well as some stalwart old timers and a team that almost couldn t miss with this record. During the wine and roses eighties, he had Wendy and Lisa backing his play, and truly guiding his art. Wendy and Lisa are children of L.A. recording studio players Mike Melvoin ...

You May Not Scream Like a White Lady but You'll Work Up A Black Sweat!

Pros: About as close to classic Prince as Prince is gon get
Cons: A few average moments
I recently had a conversation with a friend about Prince s new album, 3121, and he told me that while he liked it, he was disappointed because the album sounded repressed. A statement which got me to thinking. Since his conversion and baptism as one of Jehovah s Witnesses, Prince s music has calmed down considerably, and expectedly so, but many are quick to cite that as the main reason for his material of late being so tame. But it seems that it has slipped from the memory of many that Prince was born in 1958. And though he sounds and looks nowhere near it, the man is almost 50 years old. A...

Pros: Rock? check, Funk? check, sexy? hell yeah!
Cons: I didn't win the private concert contest :)
Prince is at it again! New album (named 3121 a play off the March 21st release date), new 1 album deal, little promotion, but still managed to have a huge opening week making 3121 his first #1 in ages! Coming off the heels of an excellent Musicology album and tour, Prince is again showing that he is still a major force in the music biz. He began the buzz with a wicked single called Black Sweat with sensuality and traces of his classic Kiss tattooed all over the track. This funktastic single hit the airwaves and managed to pull old time fans back in the fray with hopes that he s returned to...
