Samsung SCH A950 (Verizon Wireless)

I love my new phone.. it has so many features that my other phones have not had.. it has a camera, camcorder, and mp3.. plus so many extras.. everyone needs a phone like this. to be truly happy with their phone

Phone is rather large, but that might be okay if you put it in a purse. The phone does not recognize MP3 files, only WMA files. Microsoft makes free software to convert from MP3 to WMA (Windows Media Encoder), but it takes a long time to convert a song and you can only convert one song at a time. I don't know why they set up the phone's decoder to only recognize WMA.

i love the style of the phone and that it has great features what i dont like about it is that well there is nothing i don't like about it

Our purchase of the samsung SCH A950 phones was wonderfull. The description of the phones was exactly correct! They are the perfect phone/mp3 player. The pictures of the phones were clear and showed all that we got with the package. Our family was extremly pleased with this purchase.

I decided to replace my Chocolate phone and wanted to find one that was dependable, preferably a flip-phone so I wouldn't keep pushing buttons accidentally while talking like I did with my Chocolate, and looked at several different models. The Samsung SCH-A950 has a lot of the same features as the Chocolate (plays MP3s, uses micro-disk, connects to PC via USB cable, etc) and seemed to be the best option. It has a better battery life than the Chocolate, holds a ton of music and lets me customize ringtones. It takes good photos, pretty good videos, texts easily and is very dependable. The only thing I really don't like is that I transferred all my photos from my Chocolate and I cannot use some of them as pic ids because they are too big. Altogether, I would rate this phone very highly. A good, dependable, and still cool-looking phone that should be good for me for a very long time.

This Phone is in good condition. You could tell the phone has been used, but that is what a cell phone is used for. Every function on the phone worked properly and with no problems. The A950 is not the most up to date phone but it still satisfied my needs for what I used it for. All and all it is a great phone with both looks and functionality.

First a word of warning to about the phones like this I've looked at on ebay, they all seem to advertise these as MP3 players and Bluetooth enabled.

I'm not sure about other carriers but the ones for Verizon DO NOT PLAY MP3's !

They only play wma format music files, and Verizon also crippled the bluetooth badly on this phone,even if you go to all the trouble to buy,convert or download wma files to your computer you can't transfer them to the phone via bluetooth! or do anything else that requires OBEX support.

That said, it is a nice looking phone, and if you buy the media kit with the cable and spend a few hours playing with this phone using bitpim it is still a fun phone.

I am looking for a replacment here on ebay since my warrenty went out a week before my speakers (and ringer) quit on the one I bought from Verizon.

I recently upgraded my phone to a different one, but I wanted to write a bit about this phone since I enjoyed it so much.

The Good: Really great battery life -- I hardly ever had to charge it! The pictures it took were very good quality, as were the videos. It had a lot of storage space -- at one point I had over a hundred pictures and about ten videos on it. I always got reception with this phone, except when I was underground on the subway (which is completely expected). It has a cute look to it.. I liked red at the time of purchase. Basically it's a good everyday phone with bluetooth capability, VCast, Get it Now features, etc. I loved that I could put a video of my kitten jumping around on my wallpaper too. OH, and this phone is indestructible. I've dropped it countless times and I always pick it up in perfect condition.

The Bad: To use the MP3 player, you have to buy a memory card as well as the special headphones that plug into the phone. I held off on getting an iPod because I thought this phone would be perfect (phone and music all in one) but that was not the case. iPods really own the mp3 player market! Aside from that... It's not the tiniest phone. It is my no means huge or bulky, but it's not paper thin.

Although Discontinued, the Samsung 950 still ranks among the top. I haveowned this phone on Sprint for nearly 2 years and never had an issue. I have replaced the battery once but that is totally normal. My girlfriend liked me phone so much I got her the Verizon Version. This phone set the standard when it came out with 1.3 megapixle camera, camcorder and micor sd slot. Many other phones now offer these features but are much more costly and dont have stereo speakers built in. I used the camera to capture evidence after a car accident, the mp3 player as a juke box at my friends bachellor party and even called my mom. If you want a new phone but want to shell out $200+ at the Verizon Store, get all the features of the new phones for a much lower price by bidding on the Samsun 950.

This phone is, in the world of technology, getting a little older, but it is a great phone and works really well, the reason that I bought mine on ebay was that my old one that I got through the verizon store was dropped in a glass of water for several minutes and was beyond repair. But this model can take a good amount of abuse and still work well, and it is comfortable in your hand. I have just really enjoyed this phone and would recommend it to anyone who needs a dependable phone and can handle the fact that it is not state of the art anymore.

The phone is good, scuffed up quite a bit but works good. i'm not sure exactly how long it took but it had to be at least a month before i got it. the seller had NO contact whatsoever. i would send message after message after message with no replies, we took action on paypal and considered cancelling payment. where we had no contact with the seller and hadn't recieved the phone. then out of nowhere we recieved it in the mail, the battery that came with it was the wrong kind and didn't fit so i had to go purchase a new one and the description said it was in the original box but the box it came in was from a different phone....and after all that i still have had no contact from the seller. i'm just happy i got the phone but do not agree with the way this seller does business.

The product never arrived.
My credit card (paypal) was charged but no phone.
I have enterded a claim with paypal but have not received any results.

Id #290098761055 I bought this phone on April 2, 07, sent payment on April 3,07 and still have not received anything! I have confirmed with my bank that he has cashed the cashiers check. Every time I email him, he says "I will send it out on Thursday. I have contacted ebay and I am trying to go through the proper channels, and have got nowhere!!! Ebay is great!

It made wife very happy to get another phone just like the she washed.It was hard to find on in as good shape as her old on,but what a great deal!!!!!!!

My husband and I bought 2 of these phones and love them! He loves it because of the MP3 player and the sound is excellent compared to other cellphones. I like it because it takes great pics and also because of the MP3 player. You can download music off the computer onto your phone and not pay anything (thats a big plus in my book). I actually dropped my phone in water and had the option to upgrade to a newer phone but instead I just bought another one of this model phone. So that shows where I stand. I LOVE IT!

I don't like that you have to buy a bunch of crap to download MP3...but that is verizon's fault. It is a good phone accept for some reason it makes faint R2D2 noises when I am talking to people....its weird and slightly annoying. But I get over it. It also doesn't have the best battery life...and it was supposed to be a new battery...

But it takes good pictures, and always seems to get better service than my LG I had with ths same phone company.

i just got a950 samsung two months ago right before thanksgiving
i dont know much about the phone still learning but i love the mpy3 player
i dont care about the color red because that one of my favorite colers and pluse one reason i got these phone is because i waz looking for a phone with a camera/camcoarder and an mpy3 player sounds good but big but not bulky.but these phone s better then the phone i had last year i went through 5 samsung a 850 that phone waz ok but it waznt my type it waz a christmas present my parents got me and then i kept breaking it and breaking it soo i got a samsung a950 and i dont think i would ever give it up

I bought this phone about 11 months ago and for the past 10 months or so i've had nothing but problems with it....it is CONSTANTLY turining itself off and it makes a chirping and beeping noise during calls. And for some reason it doesnt charge well. i DONT suggest this phone to ANYONE its a waste of money.

Had one before but dropped it from my car to the garage floor (it broke in 1/2), had all the accessories etc., knew how it worked, it was just easier to buy another. I DO LOVE IT THOUGH!!! I like that it's somewhat larger, it doesn't feel too small for my hands. There isn't really anything I can think of that I dislike about it - and I think that's a good thing :O) And yes, I'd buy the same phone again if I had too :O)

this phone is the ford pinto of vcast phones i purchased one in february, i was not impressed at all faulty bluetooth, once they made it into a vcast music phone the mp3 feature was gone for good the camera acted as it would take a good quality picture but it was just average, reception on this phone is inferior to other vcast all digital phones witch unless your a violin fan you dont mind but since day one with this phone fresh out the box on the activation test calls i could hear constant beeping and chirping and squeeking, i had the phone replaced for another brand new phone and it did the same and then samsung failed to report a major glitch with the bluetooth and boy did i have a field day with customers coming back with this phone at the same time that verizon promoted the free bluetooth with this phone we had returns for days when i took it upon my self to call samsung they simply said if you used this phone with one of our bluetooths you wouldnt have this problem ((the problem being that the phone would loose its bluetooth capability and in most phones the solution was replacing it)) i regret the day i ever activated this phone its still sitting in the original box with everything to it in new condition and i will not even power it on i got so sick of seing this phone come back with complaints from my self and customers that shopped in our corporate store so after a month of having this phone i just gave up on it you cant even really use the memory card on it from phone to phone if dont have the software for the pics and video you can only view it on similar phones and it dont help when your other phone is simpler to use not like this head ache even loading mp3s was an 8 step process I HATE AND DETEST THIS PHONE AND ITS EXISTANCE

I like the fact I can record conversations, record videos, and store a sh%t load of mp3s , and the sound is fantastic.1 Gig micro card purchased seperatly.... I also like the fact I can store the pics and vids on the phone or card. Wall paper can be a video loop, charging time is fast, reception is great . external controlled mp3 player, locks automaticly so its not disturbed..this phone is awsome for an intro of whats to come.V cast capable .AND i GOT IT FOR 34$.... werd.
Cons:
Telus blocked the bluetooth transfer capabilities. forced to buy ringtones.. NO EQ or presets. Java app..so could be faster .

I got this phone about 6 months ago with my upgrade with Verizon..and first off, as a girl, i loved the red color..but if you dont dig the sexy red, then you can get a faceplate for 5.00 online...but the music capability is outstanding...it rocks like a boombox, or like an ipod with some headphones, the Get It Now option for downloading the songs, is convenient, & reasonably priced, and you can pretty much find any of the hottest songs out at the time...with a small memory card, you can go nuts!!! You can download rare and hard to find songs, or some classic favorites right off the internet to the phone, and its MP3 ability is astounding!!! The camera is clear and with ample storage, and as a phone..its superb...i have had NOT ONE issue with this in the six months ive had it..and usually im ready for a new one by now as i thrive for change and for the latest cool thing, but i just love this..and wont be trading it in anytime soon!!! Its just a smidgen bigger then some, but not bulky..and its the speakers that add to the sizing..and if you love music as me, then you WANT those!!! The functions on it are so thoughtful...the music pauses when there is an incoming call, and then starts right back up where it left off the moment you hang up. The color screens are clear and bright, it has a clear and load speakerphone function..which always comes in handy for me :-) Overall...i dont think anyone who loves a cool phone and jammin tunes can be disappointed with this!!! IT'S THE CREME DE LA CREME of Rockin Cell Phones!!!

I love the bluetooth capabilities and the VCAST music essential pack makes it a cell & an MP3 all in one! The camera is unreal! I just cant say enough about this awesome little phone!
