E.T. is one of the best movies of all time, and did not need to be improved. When Steven Spielberg was asked witch movie he would like to be remembered for, he picked 2, he said Schindler's list and E.T. Both movies were nominated for best picture (not this version).
I think kids can handle the fact that if an alien for another planet came to earth and the police set up a road block to stop it, they would not leave their guns at home. Walt Disney killed Bambi's mother for God sake and we all survived that one.
I have nothing bad to say about the original,it was and is a perfect movie. Spielberg and John Williams at the top of their game!
We will never see the original version of E.T on DVD while Spielberg is alive. Now if we can only get to George Lucas before Star Wars comes out on DVD. George we all know Greedo did not shoot 1st! Joey G.
