Nintendo 64 - Game console

It was third quarter, 1997, when the Nintendo 64 hit the market with a thundering rumble! Children cheered, teens yearned and adult single mothers screamed at the thought of that year’s latest and greatest!

The Nintendo 64 is arguably the most powerful cartridge console to have ever hit the market. With it’s innovative controller design and game play, the N64 revolutionized the 3-D video game world. With games like Mario and Zelda, the Nintendo 64 heightened their characters to an entirely new level. The N64 console is second only to one, it’s predecessor, the Super Nintendo. The 64 had the power and the ability to be the best, but the best games, in this gamer’s opinion, still reside with the earlier Nintendo.

I love mariokart and have always wanted one. It seems to work very well for right now. I just tried it out, but everything seems to be great.

nintendo 64.. the legendary console of the 90's....
it was my first console that brought me into the video gaming scene, that and a ps1... yet i always seemed to come back and play and more importantly enjoy the 64 more...
firstly the games themselfs! they gave you a feeling off possession! being a nice looking cartridge unlike a boring looking CD that consoles these days use! they had a sense of quality about them,it felt like you actually bought an item when going down to game or hmv! unlike buying a small CD that didnt really feel like it warranted £40!, not only that but the boxes they came in were great in design to!, you cant tell me by looking at an ocarina of time box it doesnt bring back great memorys and kinda makes you want to play it again!, it does to me.
Many of nintendo 64 games did something else ps1 i felt didnt offer, a majical experience as a child,playing goldeneye...mario kart 64....zelda....and well...most the n64 catalogue! produced a greater sense of satisfaction than most ps1 games, excluding metal gear.
Many people when i was growing up had a ps1 instead, why though!? the N64's graphics were tbh in an intirely different league, legend of zelda ocarina of time wiped any attempt at the ps1 producing a so called "quality" game! it was simply put in a different league. final fantasy 7 vs zelda...ha!
Not only was the n64 revolutionary graphics wise.... (something that nintendo kept re-defining!...ie virtua boy, i no it was a flop but it was gutsy!)...but they were bringing all the well known series caracters of the snes into full 3D glory!...you no where im going with this...mario 64, pure class.
what im trying to say...next time your surfing ebay and see an N64 looking for a new home...dont reject it straight away! it was be more of a fun old timer than you think ;).

i could not get the nintendo 64 to work and the reset button was jammed and i'm thinking about returning it.

Nintendo seems to really have a way to provide the systems that the majority of people will really want. While they generally don't have the cutting edge graphics and the depth to their games that the most serious gamers are looking for, Nintendo tends to cater to the general population. We have seen this phenomenon with the Wii, but it really started with their earliest systems.
When the N64 came out, others were leaning toward disks which could easily hold more information and better graphics programming. Nintendo opted to stick with a cartridge system for the 64. While the graphics weren't as good, the disk based systems of the time were very slow to load, you had to pause at times to wait for the system to catch up or load new information, and they really didn't provide much content for the younger or more casual players.
The 64 provided some classic games, including arguably the most popular multi-player game of the time with GoldenEye 007. I spent countless hours on this game with myself and friends.
This system continues to be a classic with a very large variety of used and older games available. The great thing about the cartridges is that they do last. They don't get scratched like the disks for your old original PlayStation. This is a great system to let the kids get hold of and hack away.
Another bonus is that, with the exception of a couple of games like Turok, there was very little blood and guts that you find in the newer systems. It is a very family friendly system.

I decided to buy a Nintendo 64 game console for my son because he likes his ps2, Nintendo DS, and Super NES so much; I figured he wouldn't be too disappointed with another video game console. I was right, he wants to play the N64 all the time now when he's allowed video games. He loves the graphics which put you in some alternate 3d cartoon world. It's got great sound and all the colors are so bright and engaging. I'm not all techy so I don't know the bits and whatnot to talk about, but my son really loves this game.

I love that it is a "retro" gaming system it was a great find/buy And I suggest getting one! my dream is to keep retro gaming alive even if that means buying the old school systems and games myself.

K i am really mad with this guy. i i bought a n64 from him, k well i got it fast it didnt have evertyhing now i had to pay almost 10 bucks to replave the part he didnt give me and that cost more than the system but he gave me a game and memory card so in the end im kinda happy but still pissed off. i hope this review was helpful

The item is in great condition and my son is enjoying it. Our old one was damaged in storage. Even though there are new systems available it seems that the Nintendo 64 gets more play time!

Even though the N64's graphics were not the best becauase of inaccurate shapes, I liked it because the other details were good enough to appeal to the eyes. One thing I don't like about it is that because it's so old, sometimes it takes more than once to try to start a game because it just goes black. Maybe a bit of blowing into the game or dusting the console. The most important reason I purchased this was because it was the only game system that could play the original Zelda: Ocarina of Time which is known to be the best game created.

Although the system does not properly work, all 23 games work and are as described. All the extra features, the rumble-pack and the expansion pack, work properly. I decided to buy it due to the large amount of games included.
