Mary Poppins (2004, DVD)

The 2004 edition of Mary Poppins should be top digital quality and bet this was very poor quality. I will never again order a DVD from Asia!

I purchased this movie because I consider it a classic and wanted to share it with my granddaughters. It was just as wonderful as expected and certainly a movie I could watch over and over again and one to be passed down for generations.

I love this movie. I grew up watching it and now my children love this movie. I also needed to buy this movie for a board game that they received for Christmas. thank you for having it for sale. It is a great Disney classic.

I have had mostly good experiences with Ebay but am rethinking some of my bidding methods. The seller of this DVD was terrible and I would recommend no one deal with him.

My take away is to be careful and not buy from people overseas. Because of the limited ability of the US legal system to track down people who are scam artists, I won't buy from non-US sellers.

Although this movie has little resemblence to the original book by P.L. Travers (which might be a good thing), the joy the story brings is pure Disney at its best. Julie Andrews beautiful voice is wrapped around some fun and beautiful ballads that stay with us forever. A GREAT family movie with lesson in it for everyone. This is a spoon full of sugar we can all use! maybe when it's over the family will all decide to be together and go fly a kite! My only wish would be to have had this beautiful film made in the UK where it should have been made....the sets are sets when the reality would have been so much more fun. This master piece is now on Broadway and I can't wait to see it. If it matches up tot he Broadway work which gave is Beauty and the Beast and Lion King on stage -- we are in for true broadway greatness for the entire family!

I paid for this movie over a month ago and I still have not recieved it or a reimbursement of anykind.

The music is great and the visuals are very stimulating for children. It was a classic that I loved as a child and hope that my children will love also. It is fun and exciting and teaches manners and morals. These are traits that escaped the past generation and the parents and need to be taught again.

I bought this film for my nephew for Christmas. He has down syndrome and seems to really respond to musicals. I played Mary Poppins for him one day at my home and he was mesmerized. I got a great deal on ebay and it was delivered quickly. He has already enjoyed it many times so I know it was a perfect choice. I think this film belongs in everybody's film library. It is not just a children's film but a film for all ages.

Whats not to love about Mary Poppins? I will be 50 this year. This movie came out when I was little. Definatly evokes an emotional, sentimental value to me. Not to mention the music, the magic. My kids are all grown. But I am saving it for my future Grandchildren. My excuse, ok? Actually you dont need an excuse to enjoy the simple joy and the FUN of Mary Popppins. ENJOY! Indulge in lifes mind candy.

Mary Poppins is perhaps one of the greatest children's films I've ever seen. Mary Poppins (soprano Julie Andrews) is a perfect nanny with special powers. The show includes a near flawless mix of live action & animation. The film's musical score is superb, as well. The script, based on P.L. Travers book, is meticulous.

Beginning with a British mother & father (Johns & Tomlinson), who decide to palace an ad for another nanny for their 2 precocious children, Jane and Michael Banks (Dotrice and Garber, the children write their own ad, which their father tears up & burns in their fireplace. The pieces mysteriously go up the flue and into the hands of Mary Poppins. The next day, she glides down from the sky by way of her magic umbrella and answers the children's ad.

Poppins (Andrews) is not a typical nanny. The children can't outdo her as they have every other nanny, for one thing. To captivate their wild imaginations, Poppins takes them on magical adventures even as she teaches the Banks children British etiquette. Bert (Van Dyke) the chimney sweep accompanies Poppins and the children on a holiday to a an animated world with penguins, who serve tea on a carousel, with live horses. They meet Uncle Albert (Wynn), whose laughter causes everyone to levitate. Jane Darwell plays her final role as the Bird Lady.

The 1964 film won Academy Awards for Best Actress, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Song, and Best Special Visual Effects. Producer Walt Disney considered Mary Poppins his highest achievement throughout a career that earned him more Oscars than anyone else. The musical score by Disney's composers Richard & Robert Sherman include:
"A Spoonful of Sugar," "Chim Chim Cheree," "Feed the Birds,"
"Let's Go Fly a Kite," & "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

A classic. You will love the bonus DVD. The footage is amazing. A walk down memory lane. The Backstage reunion footage is really fun to watch. Music, games and more included in the DVD set. A must see.

It was so good to see this memorable movie again. I shared it with our grandchildren and they loved it. We have already view it three times. The color and sound are very good, and I am sure we will continually enjoy this movie in the future. I do wish, however, that it were a more recent version of the movie rather than a 2004.

I bought this DVD for my three year old. She heard some of the music on a Disney CD and we wanted her to have the movie. She enjoys the movie and has watched it repeatedly. It is longer than I expected but the DVD player remembers where you left off and starts again at that point next time. The copy I received is lisensed and does not appear to be a "bootleg", something I was a little worried about. Cost was comparable to in store prices but it is easier to have it shipped that hunt for it all over town.

The magic of Disney is rampant in this movie. I think this was the first time that I had ever seen a real life movie combine animation. Disney did an excellent job at it.
The Banks children need a new nanny. The write an advertisement describing the perfect nanny for them. Their father sends them off to bed and rips the advertisement up and throws in the fireplace. However Mary Poppins, the magical nanny, seizes the letter and hires herself as the Banks' new nanny.
With Mary Poppins at the helm all sorts of magic begins to happen. The biggest piece of magic is yet to come when the children develop a loving relationship with their father.
This movie contains good old fashioned songs, fun and morals.
Highly recommend owning a copy of this fantastic magical Disney adventure.

Mary Poppins is a classic I loved growing up. Now I purchased it for my 3-year-old to enjoy! It is so entertaining, even my husband and I could watch it over and over. Animation mixed with live action and great special effects for the time (The governess' blowing away, Mary pulling lamps out of her bag, and 3 different colored medicines coming out of 1 bottle!) VERY entertaining! M.P. will not disappoint!

Beyond the wonderful music - "A Spoonful of Sugar", "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" and "Chim-Chim Cheree" - this is simply the complete package of fantasy, adventure, good fun, lessons for children and even a bit of suspense. What makes Mary Poppins so very, very special is that it reignites in all of us the desire to jump into a chalk painting for an outing in the countryside (and maybe a bit of a steeplechase), a wish to snap our fingers and clean our rooms, and the wonderful thought of a tea party on the ceiling fueled by endless laughter.

Who doesnt love Mary Poppins? This Classic fairy tale was amazing.. and now on DVD? Whats not to love. Great kids movie. Disney did an amazing job with this and definatly needs to be more of these types of movies.

There are several movies that I believe are a must have for a child's DVD library and this is one of them.

Mary Poppins arrives in a fantastical gust of wind, using her trusty umbrella to guide her gently and safely into the nannyhood of two children in need of some tender loving care. The story that unfolds is musical, humorous, and touching.

My granddaughter had watched this movie at a friend's house and we couldn't find it any place in town. I went to ebay and found an almost new DVD movie for her. We are both very pleased with the movie. You can't tell if it was even watched before we got it. Thanks.

I love this movie. The movie is better then I remember. Great picture and sound. Just great. I'm so glad they brought it back on dvd, for the next generation.

My daughter who is almost 18 loves Julie Andrews and had never seen her in Mary Poppins. I tried to find this movie locally but had no luck. I love ebay shopping because you can generally find those hard to find items. Shopping and purchasing on ebay is so easy. The DVD is new and in excellent condition.

Well I love Mary Poppins and I had some extra cash ;therefore, I wanted to get a Marry Poppins DVD. I was very exciterd to find the 40th anv. edition not open. Thats the best part not open. the price was right also.
