Pros:
shows girlpower
Cons:
at times a little too mellow
Born April 15, 1980, 19-year old Jessica Riddle is not your average singer. If you are expecting another typical teen pop-singing princess, well... you would be wrong. This female performer doesn t need to parade around in tight shirts and short skirts to prove that she is talented.
Jessica isn t this picture perfect girl from a picture perfect family. Her biggest inspiration was her father. She remembers some happy times; when she was a little child and would sit next to her father and watch him play the piano.
Determined to learn, she then taught herself how to play. Somehow during those happy times, things started to slip. Tension rose in the house and finally after years of fighting, Riddles parents divorced when she was 13years old. After the split, her relationship with her father withered and eventually died. During these hard times, Riddle found her peace in music. She set off on writing songs.
In 1997, Jessica began to record the songs she wrote in Los Angeles. Along with Kim Bullard, she signed to Hollywood Records in November of1998. She completed "Key of A Minor," which was released on April 18, 2000.
Her first single Even Angels Fall was a success. It scored a spot on the hit movie Ten Things I Hate About You Soundtrack. The song is filled with moving lyrics that introduced the artist to the world.
Her debut album, Key of A Minor, reflects the life of a teenage girl, including the pleasant and the bittersweet times. It includes everything from up-beat tunes to slow songs with stirring orchestras in the background. Each song is entirely unpredictable. You just never know what she will say next. Although her songs might sound a tad shocking, Riddle just sings the truth. The topics of her songs are real incidences that can happen to any teenage girl.
Key of A Minor is a very different album that every girl can relate to in one-way or another. Whether it is about wanting to kiss that special guy as she sings in I Want You or when you feel betrayed and lost just like the girl in the songs Gone and Your Girl.
Jessica Riddles new single Symphony has more of a happy and catchy tune that will make you want to just jump up and dance. You ll be sure to hear more about this talented artist very soon.
