Come on Over - Twain, Shania (Cassette 1997)

I was introduce to Shania's music through my (now) brother in-law. He bought me her CD which contained this song. About three months after I received it my husband popped the question of marriage...Now lets step back in time for a minute so you will completely understand me.

I met my husband in 1994. At first we got along great. Everything clicked, from our conversations, to the way he treated my daughter who I already had. He treated her as if she was his own. He always tried to make me laugh. Yes, my husband is still like this today but their have been MANY and when I say MANY that is what I mean, obstacles that we have overcome in the seven years we have been together.

Although he has had a pretty good life growing up, I did not. This put a strain on our relationship because he was so lovable, huggable, and always wanted to do things for me. Instead of embracing it like most people would, I did not know what to do besides push it away...

In my upbringing if I wanted ANYTHING I had to get it or do it. I was barely EVER complimented, or hugged or even touched for that matter (except when I was molested). Therefore, I did not know how to react to him besides push him away. We had many arguments but not on his half. On my own. I was used to life being a argument and without them it just did not feel right. I would intentionally start them just to see if he cared because that is how I was taught.

When we were merely 21 years old (not married) we started attending counseling. We knew we loved each other we just had many issues to understand about each other.

Everyone had told us, including his mom that it would never work. I don't even have enough fingers to count how many times his friend's told him to give up on me but he never did.

So upon him asking me to marry him in 1999, I was reviewing and listening to all sorts of music to pick one out for our wedding. It was not until I came across Shania Twain's song "Your Still The One" and "From This Moment" that I stopped.

I knew this song was perfect! I invited my now mother in-law over to listen to it. She came over sat on my couch and started listening. Half way through the song she started to cry...I asked her why and she said this is a song that explains you and Jay exactly. She felt horrible because she was one of the people who told us we would never make it and there it was five years later and we were getting married.

This is the song that we had playing when we arrived at the after wedding reception.

I chose the song from "From This Moment On" to be played after we said our wedding vows and everyone was departing from the church. I felt that it fit perfectly! Here is a insert from this song:

Still till this day when I hear these songs it it renews my strength over everything we have already conquerred. Don't get me wrong, with four kids and all there is so much more we are and will go through but like the song says we will hold on.........
