Pros:
A lot of beautiful, romantic, and sexy tunes.
Cons:
Some weird and unusual tunes.
Compared to Prince's 1984 album "Purple Rain" and many of his other successes, this album is much different in style. Personally, this is one of my favorite albums, as you can see by the name. There isn't as much "funk" as on some of his other albums, but a sensuous, romantic, jazzy style.
I think a person that can occasionally get into slow or jazz type music could really enjoy this CD. He combines the funk of "Kiss" with the romantic sound of the title track, "Under the Cherry Moon." He uses a different type of funk with the 1st two tracks, "Christopher Tracy's Parade" and "New Position," which is very characteristic of the sexy style you are used to hearing from Prince compacted in a little over 2 minutes.
The near instrumental track "I Wonder U" is nothing too special in my opinion. It is not one of my favorites but it always represents a romantic style. The next track, "Under the Cherry Moon" is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard. The lyrics themself are romantic but then added with the slow, beautiful combination of instruments, this song is definitely worth listening; whether you are with your loved one or laying in bed thinking about that special person.
"Life Can Be So Nice" is one of the faster beats, which is not one of my favorites, but a good upbeat song for listening. The next song "Venus De Milo" is an instrumental tune, which is also one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. If you love instrumental songs, this is a must for listening. Of course there is the wonderful "Mountains," in which you can evidently hear the electric guitar, drums, saxophone, and trumpet.
Next is the forever known erotic and funky "Kiss." The next track "AnotherLoverHolenYoHead" is also a more upbeat, sexy tune. For those of you who have never heard it the song title is actually speaking of the chorus line "You need another lover, like you need a hole in yo head."
The last track,"Sometimes it Snows in April" is a love song for all times. I highly recommend this CD for the lovers of jazzy, romantic, sexy, and slow tunes!
