Pros:
It can't get any worse.....can it?
Cons:
Mariah is hard to understand, barely sings and the music is utterly empty
Oh my! When I turned on the T.V. a couple of weeks ago and finally saw the highly anticipated new single from Mariah Carey I felt despair for this once brilliant vocalist. Many questions filled my mind. "What the hell is this? What is she doing?" Maybe the recent breakdown was due to the fact even she knew she was putting out inane cr*p. Don't get me wrong, I hope she gets better soon but hopefully a little prozac might make her realize how depressing her music has become.
"Loverboy" has one thing going for it. I think this will probably be one of the worst songs she ever made so everything after is bound to be better.
Now, lets get to the cons. The music sounds like a retread of every other upbeat hit she has ever had in the last couple of years. I can hear elements of "Fantasy", "Honey" and "Heartbreaker". Then you have tons of guest stars and hardly any Mariah. Shawna, Da Brat and several others make appearance. When she does sing you have no idea what she is saying. The only line I can make out clearly is "I need a sugar daddy". Honestly, thats probably enough though. I am sure the lyrics to this read more like a Penthouse novel than any kind of decent song. Finally, she has absolutely no emotion in it. She screetches and purrs and growls but I don't think she has a clue what she's singing about. Its a sad day fellow music lovers.
Will I be buying Glitter? Yes, because I have heard some samples and I think their could be some good ballads on this album. If its good I will be happy, and if it is horrible then I can warn all my friends on Epinions and probably make some of the money I spent back. (make sure to contribute to my cause by hitting the album review:)) No matter what you hear from me in the future don't even dream of buying the single.
