Miss E...So Addictive [PA] [ECD] - Elliott, Missy (CD 2001)

Missy Elliott Returns to the Hip/Hop scene with her new release, "Miss E So Addictive". Proving she is an innovator in her field, the new album overcomes any preconceived notions about current Hip Hop music. According to her press release, Missy had stopped listening to the radio before going into the studio so she could go in with some fresh, unique ideas. Apparently it worked as it fuses pop, hip hop and modern R&B with its maniacal passages of electro-inspired beats and steamy rhyme schemes.

Superstar guests flood the album including Redman and Method Man on Dog In Heat, Ginuwine on the sublime Take Away, while Eve is found spitting over 4 My People, and two versions of the album s most contagious track One Minute Man, feature Ludacris and Jay-Z respectively. All of the guest stars do an amazing job and help each of their respective songs soar.

The best tracks on the album come at the beginning, like, "One Minute Man" which is a great song that has great lyrics over a bouncing, techno-style beat. It also has a chorus that get stuck in your head for days!!A great song among the best on the album.

"Lick Shots" is also a great song. It has a cool sing/rap style and a great chorus that gets stuck in your head. If you've seen the Video for "Get UR Freak On" Then you've probably heard the chorus at the end of the video. I love this song, and the style that she sings\raps it in.

Speaking of "Get UR Freak On", this has to be my favorite on the album so far. It has a great funky beat to it and good lyrics and production. The best part is in the last verse when it starts out like, "Shhhhhh....QUIET! Hush Your Mouth..."

Besides performing on the album, Missy continues to keep her hands in the production with a little help from her producing compatriot Timbaland. Timbaland and Elliot have become known as on of hip hop s finest productions team and the duo s chemistry can be found on Whatcha Gon Do Says Elliot of the song It was one of the first tracks we worked on for the project and really set off the tone for the new direction we re moving in.

There are a lot of really great tracks on this album. Missy shows that you can change your style but never your attitude. She does it with a great innovative and classy new album!
