Pros:
Great production and beats, a lot of diverse music
Cons:
Too much R&B, less tracks than previous "60 minutes of funk" releases
As Soon as I saw the first video, "Do You," off of this album, I knew I had to buy it because I love CD's put out by DJ's because they is such a diversity in their music. I don't know if I can say this is better or worse than any of the previous "60 Minutes of Funk" albums, but I can say it's different, in the fact that it is more like "The Tunnel" than any of the previous "60 minutes of Funk" CD's.
1. "Intro (skit)" (Dr. Dre)- Rating: N/A
2. "Do You" (DMX)- This was the first single off of this album, and possibly one of the best. It's a full length DMX song with tight lyrics and tight beats. Rating: 5/5
3. "I Don't Care" (Jadakiss)- Almost everything about this song is perfect: lyrics, production, beats. Nothing missing, unless you mean the other members of the Lox, which would just ruin this song if they were in it. Rating: 5/5
4. "How Would You Like It" (Ginuwine)- Not that I'm a big fan of R&B or anything, but I would say that this is an average R&B song. Rating: 3/5
5. "Come Over" (Nelly)- I really don't like this song. I'm not the biggest Nelly fan, but I know that if you want to hear decent Nelly, you should go to his solo CD, "Country Grammar," because this is not a very good song. Rating: 2/5
6. "The Wickedest"- Besides the annoying talking in the beginning of this song, this is like the most perfect song. It's classic B.I.G. with raw lyrics and raw beats, and the way it goes together just works so well. Rating: 5/5
7. "Born True Interlude (skit)"- Rating: N/A
8. "Ante Up (remix)" (Busta Rhymes/Remi Martin/Tephlon/MOP)- This is the second single off of this CD, and one of the best songs on the CD. Busta Rhymes, Remi Martin, and MOP all make some tight appearances on this CD, and Tephlon makes a pretty decent appearance. Though this is a tight song, it isn't quite as good as the original "Ante Up" off of the MOP CD, "Warriorz." Rating: 5/5
9. "Words Are Weapons" (Eminem/Swifty/Bizarre)- This song is another one of the best songs on this CD. Eminem starts the song out by showing everyone why he is one of the illest MC's in the rap game. Swifty and Bizarre of D-12 also have some tight verses on this track. Hopefully, this will be the kind of content that will be found on Eminem's next album. Rating: 5/5
10. "The Needle" (Nature)-This is a pretty average song. The beat to this song isn't really very good, and Nature, though a pretty good MC, gets a little boring lyrically on this track. Rating: 3/5
11. "Call Me Drag-On" (Drag-On)- For some reason, people have been giving Drag-On a lot of crap in the past year or so. I personally like a lot of the stuff Drag-On has been putting out lately, and this track is no exception. Though this song isn't the best lyrically, I still think it's a good song. Rating: 4/5
12. "Thug Anthem 2000 (skit)"- Rating: N/A
13. "You Will Never Find" (In Essence)- This is another R&B song, and I guess it is average as well. Rating: 3/5
14. "Good Life" (Faith Evans) - What's up with all these R&B songs?! Oh well, at least this one has a cool beat. Rating: 3.5/5
15. "Did She Say" (Lil' Bow Wow/Jagged Edge/Jermaine Dupri/Da Brat)- This song is alright as far as the rap goes, but like half of the song is singing, which, about now, I'm getting a little sick of. Rating: 3/5
16. "Rockin'" (Lil' Kim)- This is by far my favorite Lil' Kim song ever. I generally don't care much for her, but her voice against the tight beat sounds really good on this song. Rating: 5/5
17. "What Son What" (Capone-N-Noreaga)- I like almost everything Capone and Noreaga put out when they are together. This is a tight song, but my favorite verse is Capone's on this one. I think the other two rappers on this CD are Maze and Mussolini, but I'm not totally sure. Rating: 4.5/5
18. "Feelin' The Hate" (The Murderers)- I don't really care much for The Murderers, except Ja Rule, most of the time, but on this song, the beat makes this song good. It's an alright song, but not the best on this CD. Rating: 3/5
19. "Uhhnnh" (Bad Seed)- I believe this is the first song Bad Seed has been in, and he does pretty well on this CD, but it's just too much of the same gangsta rap stuff. Another con of this track is the shortness. Rating: 3.5/5
20. "Bad" (Shyne)- Out of every rapper that still belongs to Bad Boy, Shyne has to be the best lyricist in it. This song has a tight beat and some tight lyrics. Rating: 4/5
21. "Block Lock Down" (Ludacris/Infamous 2-0)- Ludacris has become a big name in hip-hop with his strange style and witty lyrics. This song, though, doesn't really live up to the standard's he set for himself on "Back For The First Time," not to say that this is a bad song, just not as good as the songs on his solo CD. Rating: 3/5
22. "Break Da Law 2001" (Project Pat/Three 6 Mafia)- I'm not a big fan of the Three 6 mafia, so I can't really say I care anything for this song. I definitly don't care anything for the style of this song, and in my opinion, this is the worst track on the CD. Rating: 2/5
23. "Duck Down" (Da Francise)- This is the first time I've ever heard Da Francise, and I really don't like his style from what I see in this song. It's just not very good lyrically. Rating: 3/5
24. "Fine Line" (Saukrates)- Redman introduces this track, telling you all of Saukrates, and Saukrates does a good job with this song. The beat is pretty tight, and the lyrics are pretty good. Rating: 4/5
25. "Rush" (Lady Luck)- I really like Lady Luck's voice and style of rapping. The beat to this song kinda sucks, but Lady Luck compensates for that with some tight lyrics on this one. Rating: 4.5/5
26. "Freestyle" (Fabolous)- The beat for this song is "It's Yourz" by the Wu-Tang. Fabolous has a tight voice and, though makes only a short appearance, does a pretty good job with this song. Rating: 4/5
Though the overall quality of this CD far exceeds that of Vol. 3, there aren't nearly as many artists or tracks as Vol. 3. Basically, if you like a pretty diverse ammount of artists, and you like some tight beats, you should like this CD, and if you like this CD, you should try Vol. 1-3, and "The Tunnel," or try titles such as "The Professional," and "Backstage Mixtape" by DJ Clue.
