The Collector's Series Vol. 1 - Dion, Celine (CD 2000)

The great diva has left the music spotlight to be with her special dream, to have a baby. Fortunately, the baby has been born. :) On this album, there's not really something to release as a single because this is just a collection of her old songs........much to our surprise, rare songs are included in this album. One of the best tracks in this album is THE POWER OF THE DREAM being sung at the Olympic Games in 1996. This should have been released as a single because of the song itself. Celine performed this song in front of billion viewers, and she was given a big applause. Fortunately, this song was a b-side of her single, IT'S ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW in the USA. However, the cd single was a limited edition. Now people can hear this great, great song in this album. The song is very uplifting and hopeful. A perfect theme song for every struggling creature. Another rare track is BE THE MAN, which was released as a single in JAPAN. In this album, it's a Japanese version. The English version should have been included, too! If you loved TO LOVE YOU MORE, for sure you would love this song, too! BE THE MAN and TO LOVE YOU MORE are similar to each other......same writer, producer, arranger, the one and only.....Mr. David Foster! I'm glad this song was born. Perhaps the first thing to comment on this album is that it contains different languages such as: Spanish, French, and even Italian! Amar Haciendo El Amor and Sola Otra Vez (All by myself) are both Spanish while Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore and Un Garcon Pas Comme Les Autres are both French. Celine Dion sang THE PRAYER with Andrea Bocelli in both Italian and English languages! The Prayer was originally released in an animation soundtrack, THE MAGIC SWORD. Both Celine and Andrea sang the song individually in English and Italian, respectively. However, the collaboration on THE PRAYER, taken from THESE ARE SPECIAL TIMES by Celine Dion and SOGNO by Andrea Bocelli, is much better than their solo formats. This song was eventually nominated as the song of the year at the Oscar Awards. Celine and Andrea were nominated as the collaboration of the year at the Grammy Awards. Another collaboration from this album involves Barbra Streisand in TELL HIM. It was Barbra herself who asked Dion if she could sing a song together. Yep, it was all worth it, for they were nominated as the collaboration of the year at the Grammy Awards, too! WHERE DOES MY HEART BEAT NOW is her first English single that peaked at number #4 in the Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart. This song should have been included in her album ALL THE WAY, the greatest hits. You could notice that Celine Dion has grown up a lot. Where does my heart beat now is just a simple song yet radio-friendly. Other notable tracks are ONLY ONE ROAD, taken from THE COLOUR OF MY LOVE album...the famous song, THAT'S THE WAY IT IS......Celine Dion is still one great diva of all time!
