Pulp Fiction is one of the most groundbreaking movies ever released. Since it came out in 1994, it has been hailed one of the best movies ever released which is entirely truthful because of Tarantino s haunting dialogue, interesting characters, and unforgettable scenes. The shear greatness of this film cannot be summed up in this critique, but hopefully you ll get the overall idea when I m through.

Pulp Fiction is a mix between volatile action and wicked humor that is about a pair of hit men, their boss s scrumptious wife, and a desperate, pride-filled boxer. These three stories make up the chunk of the film. One of the hit men have to take their boss s wife out on a date and keep her company while the boss is away, but is uncomfortable after being told what happened to the last guy who touched Ms. Wallace. This awkwardness leads to some prize-winning dialogue, but the events of that night are truly much deeper

The two hit men also are involved in getting their boss s assets back from some low-rent thugs, but that leads to some messy circumstances they get into. Lastly, the fighter made a deal with Mr. Wallace that he would lose a fight, but actually wins it, which doesn t make the boss too happy. All of these stories interlock with one another to make one big story thread and are very interesting to watch onscreen.

Right out the gates you might imagine that the movie would be difficult to watch due to the fact that it jumps around a lot. Well, fear not because the movie is easy to watch. While you may be overwhelmed at first by the end of the movie when everything is knotted together then you will truly see Tarantino s masterful charm.

Yes, Quentin Tarantino, the one who made last year s awesome Kill Bill movies as well as Reservoir Dogs and True Romance (which he wrote). I don t know what it is whether it s his easy-to-understand direction or his superbly unique dialogue and character-driven stories that make him one of my favorite movie stars. Whatever it is, he s bad as*. Also similar to Hitchcock in the fact that he makes an appearance in the movie that the hit men go to when they have a little mess in their car. The scenes that he s in are witty and funny.

John Travolta is also in the movie playing one of the lead characters alongside the magnificent Samuel L. Jackson (Jackie Brown, S.W.A.T.). Travolta gets a lot of screen time because of his scenes with Mrs. Morales (played very well by Uma Thurman) and is in the movie quite a bit. While a lot of people hate him now due to the disasters known as Michael, Basic, and Ladder 49, Pulp Fiction was made back in the days when he used to be kick a*s. Sam Jackson also plays a completely rad character with one of the best speeches ever written in a movie that he says before he busts a cap in someone s as* . The scenes that he s in with Travolta are priceless and some of the best chemistry ever witnessed on a movie screen.

Also making guest appearances are a lot of big-wigs like Bruce Willis, who plays the boxer, Christopher Walken (who supplies one of the funniest scenes in the movie about having a watch shoved up his butt), and the awesome Ving Rhames, who plays the head honcho, Mr. Wallace. All of these small parts are awesome to watch especially when Harvey Keitel makes an appearance and aren t added in gratuitously either.

A large chunk of the movie is action packed with gun fights (or executions) and violence, but there are also a lot of humorous lines and parts added in, which really drag down the tension. In fact, you will be laughing your head off when you re not grimacing from all of the violence and cuss words. The scenes can be a bit long especially when two characters are having a conversation and the conversation goes on a long time, but the dialogue was written so expertly that it s a real treat to watch on your TV. You will never grow bored and that s my word.

Overall, this is well worth a purchase (I own it) because there are so many different viewpoints in the movie that are so remarkable that you can watch the movie a thousand different times just to get the full juice of the story. What makes Pulp Fiction so good isn t just Tarantino s wonderful direction and plot, but all of the magnificent acting between all of the characters. This is truly a classic movie that I ll always cherish. This is the tenth anniversary of the movie so I decided to review it and now that I ve done it, what more is there to do? I love Pulp Fiction and I think that if you haven t seen this flick yet then you should right away because it s an American movie milestone in the way that gangster films should be made. Five stars.
