My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2003, DVD)

This movie is similar to all families. I see te first time its so like my family! Everybody eat, drink and married. Its a really good one for all women, i see this movie several times and all time is the same funny!

When I first heard about this I wanted to see. My friends all said it was good. When I saw it I loved it as well. I have started a dvd collection and this was one I wanted to add to it. I'm glad I found it at such a great deal.

Believe it or not, my wife watch this movie every week at least once. I do not know why, but she loves this DVD. She said it it the best movie ever. Each one has his/her own opinion. But the movie itself is very funny.

This is a great movie. It has you laughing right to the very last scene. There is some sad moments, but it has to, to be that funny. Real life when two cultures meet.

I like a good romantic comedy as much as the next guy. Either a good script or an attractive female lead (or both) will keep me at least slightly interested for the duration of the film, but this script was so terrible that even Ms USA as the lead would not have been enough to keep my interest.

My wife and I thought we were going to watch a romantic comedy, but there is nothing even remotely funny or romantic in this movie. The jokes are tired and lame.. the parts of the movie that were intended to be romantic came across - for the most part - as silly rather than sweet.

The movie does have its moments, but they are few and far between.

The best part of the movie was the running theme that Windex can fix anything and everything (including pimples). Not that I don't like Windex, but when it is the best part of the movie you have a problem.

After reading all the glowing reviews on here, I thought that I should give it another try.. I did so last night.. and it still sucked.

Bottom Line: If you MUST see this movie - join NetFlix and add it to your list. Otherwise, blow it off - it's not worth buying or paying a rental fee from a normal retail video rental outlet.

The movie is about the life of Toula, a 30 year Greek girl who is still single, which means she's a failure. Her mother, aunts, sister and all of her cousins are married and are making Greek babies and feeding everyone in the family. Her father is upset because she looks "old" and even his bottle of Windex cannot cure that problem!

Soon Toula meets Ian Miller who is not Greek, yet in his love for Toula, embraces her culture and family. The story revolves around their meeting and courtship and eventually their marriage which the family completely takes over from her mother picking out the wedding invitations complete with the Greek Flag on its facing (how romantic is that, I wonder???); her cousin Nicki picking out the most hideous of bridesmaids dresses (blue puffs); her family decking her out in the wedding finery turning her into a "snow beast" complete with Greek makeup.

The movie is a wonderful portrayal of a family's love for each member in the family and how each interrelates with one another. And through it all, Toula faces each moment with a loving passion that would have made most women into the ultimate Bridezilla. The one liners from her father, Gus, and his Windex cure-all are hysterical, Aunt Vula-the dingbat Whoa is me!, and her Yaya (Grandmother)'s antics are comical. But it is that Ian truly loving Toula and embracing a culture he knows nothing about that makes me love this movie. He is an only child and he and his parents are truly overwhelmed by meeting the entire family of Gus, Maria (her mother), her sister, brother, Uncles, Aunts, and cousins, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nicki and Nick (no, I'm not having problem with my keyboard. Nia names everyone in her family in this movie! It is truly one of the best of the feel good flicks that you'll watch.

I saw this movie once and had to purchase it for my video collection. There are some serious poignant scenes and a ton of laughs (Frump Girl) and to watch it, I can see parts of that movie within my family and the strange one down the street.

After you watch it on DVD, watch it again with the commentary from Nia Vardalos, John Corbett, and the director Joel Zwick. There is so much insight to the movie about Nia's own experience in her own (Greek Culture and) marriage to her real life Ian (Ian Gomez). I think aside from the fact that it is a really fun-loving movie is the fact that although it is embellished with comedy it is Nia's story and she does find her prince charming in real life. Additionally, Ian Gomez does appear in the movie as the character Ian's best friend.

This movie is one of the most romantic movies I've ever seen! I love the fact that a nerdy little girl who's very shy and quiet changes into this beautiful woman who gets the man of her dreams. I think it's such a sweet movie and the guy in the movie is such a good actor and is so sweet! He makes you fall in love with him!

Not a bad movie! There are some definately funny parts, but it wasn't the best romantic comedy I've ever seen. The chemistry among the actors could have been better, and that would have improved the film.

I have no problem with the seller or the product. You are looking in the wrong place for your problems with Ebay!

It reminds me of my family as we are from the former Armenian area of Turkey and my father spent 3 1/2 years in Greece. They are the nicest people you ever want to meet but DO NOT DISAGREE with them.
This movie had me and my family in stiches. The performances are so ON that it's almost like they peeked into our windows long ago and wrote about what they saw. Genius!!!

I'll admit, I was actually looking forward to seeing this movie when it first came out, and when I finally did, I can't believe how much it sucked. The story moves around to quickly for you to get a good idea of what's going on. She first meets the guy, then the next thing they show are them getting engaged and such. It was too fast for me.

i wanted the movie and the price was cheap so that's why i decided to buy it on ebay and not at a store.

I LOVE this movie! Married to a Greek immigrant, I see that it is so true to life...except for the Windex.

A fabulous and inspiring chick flick!! Wonderfully fun Cinderella-type modern story of a delightful nerdy woman and her loud, in-your-face Greek family and her new non-Greek boyfriend. Delightful acting, great story, wonderful ending. Highly recommended!

It does not matter who you are, what color, sex or ethnic background if you watch this movie you will connect with the main character. You will laugh, cry, get mad and in the end want to be just like her.

I decided to buy this movie because I have heard so many feedbacks about it...especially from my relatives who have seen it...we're not greek but the story is really like whats happening to our family...it's is really a good movie.

I LOVE this movie!

If you come from a large family, like I do, you will totally understand and "get" this movie. My family is from Louisiana and we talk really fast with such a distinct accent and to outsiders our speech is probably unintelligable. We have huge get togethers with tons of food and even if you are not hungry, we will shove it in your face anyways. We are very protective over each other and we are a very close and loving family. In so many ways, I see my family in theirs. Every family has it's own quirks, but that's what makes it your family and you have to love it, even if you may hate it at times. This movie will make you laugh at the family's odd behaviors, but the love that they share draws you in and they do have a story to tell and it's a great one!

This is a great movie. I laughed throughout the whole movie. Kinda made me wish I was Greek. The father in this is hillarios. This movie is flawless. I wouldn't miss this one.

This film brings together a tradition Greek American family, with a more isolated, non cultured New York family to create a believable feel, with an absolutly hilarious script! Nia Vardalos & John Corbett do a great job in this movie which turned out to be a big hit. A lot of fun and an interesting story about Greek family life. It has been copied a few times recently - but this one will be remembered as the classic.
