  Immortal in Death - Drugs at a High Cost -- Life

Pros:
Great continuation with the "in Death" series.

Cons:
Ended a little too quickly.

J.D. Robb certainly did not disappoint me with her third book in the series, Immortal in Death. This is a series that surrounds the life of Lieutenant Eve Dallas and the extremely difficult to solve cases that seem to continue to turn up.

In addition, it seems that each of these cases involves at least one, if not more, highly public person. This always brings a lot of media into the picture and a lot of questions that seem to have no answers.

Immortal in Death - The Story
======================================

During this particular story, Eve originally is called by another officer regarding the death of one of her weasels. Shortly thereafter, is she woken up in the middle of the night with a phone call from her friend Mavis, who just found her boyfriends "Ex" murdered in her apartment.

Being the professional she is, she has to press hard during Mavis' interview. Hoping she can prove she didn't do it, while still showing enough force to prove that she did.

The "Ex" also turned out to be the number one model at the time, Pandora. Causing a lot of media attention of course. But Eve is good at her job, she pursues every angle, finds the others that were with her that night and finds a very deep involvement with all of them in manufacturing and distributing a fatal drug called "Immortality".

The problem is, she still hasn't found the murderer. But of course she is able to work her way through and find the killer. Definitely not someone you would suspect.

Immortal in Death - The Characters
======================================

Lieutenant Eve Dallas - We find out a lot more about Eve during this tale. In the past we had known that she had a troubled childhood. Although she didn't remember who she was or what had happened to her prior to 8 years of age, we now find out exactly what happened.

In addition, her continuing relationship with the infamous Roarke has grown into more than just a mutual agreement for sex. They are now planning to be married, and the time is growing near. But she doesn't want to go through with it until the case is cleared and so is her friend.

Roarke - He's definitely a wonderful man with an exciting past. Although he too had troubles, he pursued his career and his success hard and fast. He owns what seems to be most of New York, and even a lot of property and investments off-planet.

He understands Eve like no one else does. Sometimes even better than she understands herself. But the thing that I really like is that he seems to be an exact opposite of Eve. Whereas she does everything strictly by the book, he has no qualms about using other ways around the law to ensure things happen.

Mavis Freestone - Initially the accused killer, but also Eves dearest friend. She used to be into illegal activities but has been clean for many years. Now into dancing and singing (or screeching as some would say) she definitely is there to remind Eve to loosen up and get a little wild sometimes.

Overall Recommendation
======================================

Ok, so I haven't told you all about the story. I personally wouldn't want anyone to tell me. But There is definitely enough to wet anyones appetite for a good murder mystery that is laced with love and a lot of action.

J.D. Robb is wonderful at weaving tales of intrigue, always keeping you guessing at who really did do it. A lot of writers have some difficulty about letting little things slip about the true killer, or don't let them slip and nothing makes sense. But she has a way of giving you enough information in all directions that it can confuse you to who the real killer is.

If you enjoy a good mystery, I definitely recommend you check out the "In Death" series.
