I had been looking at several stores to purchase movie collections I enjoy, when a friend said check on EBay. I was very happy when I found this collection and thrilled to win. I not only received great fast service, the set is in perfect condition. I have added this seller to my favorites also.

  Godfather DVD Collection Review
Review created: 09/05/06

This collection of five DVD's is a great addition to the movie enthusiast's collection. The first four DVD's feature the original versions of Godfather I, II (on two DVD's), and III. The final DVD contains behind the scene looks at each of the films with commentary by the director and actors. Since these films are hard to locate separately, it was wonderful to be able to acquire them together with the bonus material.

Sequel as good as the first!

I've seen all three movies 3 times, and the first one I've seen closer to 10. The first 2 are classics, and the 3rd one is a decent story, but isn't as earth shattering as the first two. I'd give this set an A+ on the first two movies alone. The 3rd one has a bad rep (somewhat deserving, somewhat not) because it could never live up to the first two. I still enjoyed it, but not to the degree of the first two that are a must have to anyone's collection.

The three movies have always been fascinating to me. The violence suffered by Vito Andolini as a child and as a young man cause him to view the worls as an extremely dangerous place. His stilted way of protecting his wife and children take him to become his own law, judge, and executioner of dangerous people who surround them.
The manner in which similar men have adopted the same violent lifestyle degenerates into taking power, luxuries, whims, and vengeance through killing and extortion.
The love for domestic family life protected through a violent lifestyle is presented in a poignant way, showing the nefarious effects of a stilted interpretation of life. It is a fascinating story with a realistic demonstration of consequences to be faced from choices taken.

  The Godfather Triology Collection

This is a great collection and by far the best in its genre. It is rare to find a movie that capture the details of the original novel so vividly. A must have for serious collector and you can find a good deal here for a NIB for $25 (US version, not the bootleg import).

  A DVD you can't refuse

In my humble opinion, the first Godfather movie was the greatest movie ever made, Godfather II is the best sequal ever made, and Godfather III is..well...Godfather III. The first movie is one of the few mafia-centered movies that puts emphasis on the family, not the crime. You see that the decisions are made for the best of the family, not just for crime's sake. Good-watching!

  An Offer You Can't Refuse

Prior to the purchase of this collection , I had viewed Part 1 at least 30 times, part II almost that many and part III only once. When my VHS tape of part I finally "wore out", I decided to take the plunge, which brought the "extras" disc, as well as Part III, which I didn't own at the time, For a lover of the trilogy, the "extras" disc is a must. Behind the scenes background, interviews, cut scenes, actor and crew commentary bring new incite into the productions. The three films themselves include a second English dialog option with Copoolla waxing his feelings and insights. I have also come to respect part III at this time, which I had previous dismissed due to Sophia Coppola's acting and the far-fetched Atlantic City rub-out scene. It gets into Michael's head and soul, and once it is viewed enough to follow the story clearly (it took me two more viewings) a lot of the story line starts to make more sense.
Of course, having DVD's makes it easier to skip to scenes which you wish to review. This is one package with the added bonuses make it worth the price alone, which on eBay, wasn't all that much at all.

  An offer you can't refuse

This is an offer you can't refuse. The greatest film saga ever is here in DVD colecction. I rate "The Godfather" 10 out of 10-great cast, great screenplay-killer one-liners (and long liners), Coppola's directing shines as does Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Richard Castellano, Diane Keaton, and many more in the classic epic. I rate the sequel "The Godfather: Part Two" 9/10. It was pretty good, but the first one is still the best. Good directing, it really does lead up a lot to the first movie. Al Pacino leads the cast which includes Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Lee Strasberg, Michael V. Gazzo, John Cazale, Talia Shire, and in his Oscar* winning performance as Vito Corleone-Robert De Niro. Great screenplay with many more classic lines, sucj as "ROCCO, ALIVE!", "You broke my heart, Fredo", and "Keep you friends close, but your enemies closer". Then there was "The Godfather: Part Three"-all I can say is the more sequels, the worse the films get. I rate Part 3 7/10, it just didn't have the mix of the first 2, due to the fact that (for various reasons) many characters from the first two weren't in it. Directing-pretty good-acting-good-screenplay-ok. Stars Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shore, Andy Garcia, Eli Wallach, and Joe Mantegna. In all, this is a great film series-Part One earned 11 Oscar nominations-including 3 Best Supporting Actor nominations, and it won 3, including Best Actor-Marlon Brando. Part Two earned 11 as well, winning 6, including Best Supporting Actor-Robert De Niro. Part Three was nominated for 7 Oscars. Excellent trilogy, worth buying-9/10 overall-sorry, i don't use a scale of 1 to 5. I prefer 1 to 10.

With whole story of the Corleone family brought together on one DVD collection, the Godfather is magnificent. If you dont know the story, rest assured, you will not be dissappointed if you purchase this set! The best in organized crime flicks, the Godfather is timeless! Thanks for reading my opinion, and if you'ld like to check out my store, I am permitted by ebay to provide you the url here:

The Godfather Collection: Two Masterpieces you can't refuse !
Review created: 10/16/01
by: ChrisJarmick -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
You kidding? Two masterpieces, commentaries, extras, Forgettabout-it.

Cons:
Visual and Audio elements could have been improved some more. Extras aren't brand new.

The Godfather Collection is the much anticipated dream package film lovers and DVD owners have been waiting for. Rumors of the production of the package began more than a year ago and after much anticipation, and speculation it has arrived. It is here and priced at under 20 bucks per disc making it an offer no film-buff could ever refuse. I wish I could tell you The Collection exceeded the high expectations and delivered absolutely everything , everyone was hoping for, but I can't quite do that. Truth be told, while all the films look very good, they don't look or sound as good as they could..

It really is "an offer you can't refuse."

Pros:
The Godfather, The Godfather II, GREAT supplemental material

Cons:
The Godfather Part III

Men love The Godfather; boys love Star Wars. Some guys claim to hold the two franchises in equal regard, but if he knows more of Darth Vader's dialogue by heart than Vito Corleone's, ladies, find a new mate, or compete against Lego for his affections for the rest of your life together. A Godfather man beats up anybody who picks on his sister, can appreciate a good meal, dresses with the goal of looking handsome, and knows to keep his friends close and his enemies closer. If he's apt to murder in cold blood, at least he'll never sit in a La-Z-Boy making "Pow! Pow! Pow!" sounds as if flying The.

An Offer One Better NOT Refuse
Review created: 10/20/01
by: mfd83 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Beautiful Box Set, Excellent Movies, Loaded with Extras, 5 DISCS

Cons:
Movies don't have their own keepcases

I never saw the Godfather before. I always wanted to see it when I was younger, but for some reason something always prevented me from doing so. My family (being Italian), and some of my friends, and other people around me always told me that these movies were great (with the exception of Godfather Part 3....more on that later). When I learned that this DVD Collection was coming I saw this as my chance to finally see one of the best movies ever made. Not only that, but I would be able to experience it first, not on that abysmal VHS, but on the format that would let me see it in the best way...

Pros:
Incredible cast, deft direction, strong score, great script

Cons:
Part three

Mario Puzo's novel, The Godfather, is no one's idea of great art. It is considered a pot boiler of the worst kind. And yet, Francis Coppola (Apocalypse Now, The Conversation) created from it one of the most powerful, critically acclaimed, and successful film trilogies in the history of cinema. Coppola assembled a cast that, during the span of the three fims, would include Al Pacino, Robert Deniro, Marlon Brando, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, James Caan, Eli Wallach, John Cazale, Robert Duvall, Abe Vigoda, Bruno Kirby, Andy Garcia, Joe Montegna, and the list could go on for days. All of these...

The Godfather DVD Collection: Inside the Cosa Nostra
Review created: 03/27/02
by: movie-man -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
widescreen, picture resolution crisper than videocassette, bonus materials

Cons:
none

The only additional footage or uniqueness of the DVD Trilogy is the inclusion of Bonus Materials disc, and the widescreen format, and remastered film. These additions make the DVD version worth the buy, even for those who already own the Videocassette Trilogy. The bonus materials includes many interesting and essential information for any true Godfather fan. The Bonus Disc includes Behind The Scenes footage including: On location film, Francis Ford Coppola's notebook, and storyboards from both The Godfather Part II, and The Godfather Part III. Also included on the bonus disc is a Corleone...
