Amplified [PA] - Q-Tip (CD 1999)

It's not surprising that I am a huge fan of this album since I am a big "Tribe called Quest" fan. It hurts me to say it but I was disappointed by their last album (snifle,snifle, cry, cry), so when I heard Q-tip was going solo-to say I was thrilled is an understatement (Now we are so happy, we do the dance of joy, com'on you remember "Perfect Strangers", admit it)

So I tried not to be to excited because I didn't want to be disappointed but I couldn't help it. And let me tell you I not at all disappointed, I dig almost every song on it. The one song with "Korn" (who I also love) sounds a bit like a Sprite commercial but besides that I have no complaints.

A lot of the album has that mellow "Tribe called Quest" feel to it but he also strays a bit and puts out a few songs with some real energy (Virant Thing, Breathe and Stop) that are just made to make you bounce at a club! He that crazy cool flow that he has always had, as if this rhyming was just effortless.

I would say if you're a hip-hop fan (if not whatcha reading this review for, I'm not talking about ear hygiene here:), if like "Tribe called Quest", if you've heard Q-Tip on the radio and dig it, then you must get this album. Don't wait till you get paid, don't wait for one more song to come out (you'll forget, what's that CD I wanted to get again...), sell your house or car if your must but run out and get it.

If your not a hip-hop fan, you think "Tribe called Quest" might be something you heard about in history class, or you mistakenly happened upon this review. I say what the hell get it anyway (What can I say I love Q-tip, I guess that makes me biased)
