Pros:
beautiful recordings
Cons:
it is Barbra, there are none
Regardless of what others say, this is true Barbra. If you have been a life long member of the "Babs" club like I have you will recognize the true feelings that only Barbra can express.
Her voice is clear and the music is beautiful. You can hear the feelings that only she can convey with her perfect voice when she really gets into a song. If you want to complete your Barbra collection, please don't miss this one.
Released after her marriage to James Brolin, it includes songs she sang at their wedding. Some would find this narcissistic but I feel it is further tribute of her love to this man.
Her rendition of I've Dreamed of You, tugs at the heartstrings of all of us when we realize we have found that perfect someone. That person we always dreamed we would meet, our soulmate. Written for her, after she heard the Irish melody, it was definitely a gift of love she gave her new husband.
The duet with Vince Gill, If You Ever Leave Me tells the story that it doesn't matter where you go, or who you are with, we will always be together. Supporting each other, relying on each other. Fantastic duo.
Isn't It A Pity, a song they danced to on their wedding day, reflects feelings that although we are finally together, isn't really a shame we never met before. Well, if destiny is really all it claims, we meet when we are supposed to and when each party is ready to accept the other - but still (grin)
The Island could be viewed in many ways. Is it truly a piece of land, or a piece of ourselves? Are we trying to reach a destination, or just reach inside our own mind and find that peace we are searching for?
If I Never Met You, would I be the same person? Or would I be endlessly searching for happiness and never finding it? How great to finally met that special someone that puts our heart right and our mind at ease.
Also included are Just One Lifetime, Wait and It Must Be You which are all songs reflecting on the joy of finally finding the love you always dreamed of. The CD ends with The Music That Makes Me Dance and that music is love.
Frankly, I thought the CD cover was pretty nice as well.
Since Barbra and I were born on the same day I have always felt a tie to her. Oddly enough our sons are both named them Jason! I guess I am a "Barbrahead".
Thanks,
Susi
