Pros:
Laugh factor & ripping on crummy movies.
Cons:
Not for children, yet people still seemed to bring them.
The movie was definitely made to be a rip off of Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and other various movies that recently came out.
I tuned into MTV (Don't ask why) and the Wayans Brothers were talking about the film and why they made it. "What it comes down to is I can't stand these crummy movies that have no plot or point, not to mention if I heard that little kid say "I SEE DEAD PEOPLE" again I m going to Snap"
That was the words I heard from the Wayans Brothers while talking about this new movie... The truth is, I agree, if that little kid says "I SEE DEAD PEOPLE" again I'm going to keel over and die.
Corny Plot---DUH!
Well it was meant to be corny/funny, which it was, to an extent I really think the Wayans brothers have a fetish with the male organ. During the movie it was shown quite frequently, which makes me uncomfortable as a viewer. This is why for the younger viewers, I wouldn t recommend letting them into the movie theater. The mood off the film is slapstick more than horror/suspense/comedy The digital effects, along with the inventive comedy scenes kept my interest while I was enjoying this movie. Watching the Killer Party-on with the Stoners made me smirk a bit as well. The ending of the movie is a slight twist by making the killer someone you least expect.
My favorite character was Doofy, they made this middle age mentally challenged male, to clich the character Dewy from the film Scream. I find it hilarious, not because he's mentally challenged, but because they rip on Dewy from Scream. I wanted Dewy, out of all the characters in the movie Scream to die, but he never ceases to live! No matter how bad he s attacked or injured, DEWY lives on to tell the tale.
Most of the scenes made me laugh or at least smile, but to be honest I couldn t wait for it to end. With the Wayans brothers they always include on character that s a Pot-head and another that seems normal, but always acts weird. That s Some Good *hit, is a line used in both Scary Movie & in Don t be a Menace. It almost seems the only situations they can act out is goofiness.
Wayans Brothers Make Other Korn-Ball Films
Besides this recent blockbuster, the film Don t Be a Menace in south central while drinking your juice in the hood was made by the Wayans Brothers.
If you liked Scary Movie I m pretty sure you would enjoy this fine film.
Why DID you see it?
Simply put I m a fan of the Wayans Brothers inventive style, and how they openly rip on things. Another big plus was I saw it for free; the vendors at work were handing out movie passes. I ll most likely purchase the film when it comes on video, Don t be a Menace cost me $4, I can t complain about that.
