Pros:
Everyone can enjoy the album, even if they haven't heard much Tribe
Cons:
Should have made a double cd
A Tribe Called Quest is one the most premier artists in hip hop. Original lyrics and style make them the best rappers (as a group) of all time. In my mind, the Notorious B.I.G. is the greatest rapper ever and no body will ever be able to touch him. I bought the album last month because I wanted to have their greatest songs all on one album. Although I think that most all of their songs are excellent, it's a pain to lug around five cd's just to listen to what you want to. I love how the producers put together the album. Diversity among a cd and how it's put together add to how well listeners are going to perceive the quality of the album. I thought that this anthology album was put together perfectly. I wouldn't change a thing. It blends together their old material with newer material so well. Another thing that I like about ATCQ is that they haven't really change along time. Their style in 1990 is the same as what it is in the year 2000, and I love that about them. They didn't sell out for what was popular at the time (ahem Cash Money, No Limit). I love the Tribe and hope they come out with a new cd soon.
If you like the Tribe I would recommend for you to buy from artists such as Q-Tip, Pharcyde, Slick Rick, Mos Def, Blackstar, and the Roots. This is a must have album that even a virgin to ATCQ will enjoy.
