Classics in the Key of G - G, Kenny (CD 1999)

I have been following Kenny G's career for sometime now and respect his playing abilities and thought provoking writings. The Classics album is a nice collection of old favorites which Kenny does a fairly nice job with. He has again showed his ability to perform with passion and technique. The downside of this album is that Kenny duplicates many of the riffs he uses on his past albums which was very disappointing. He has gotten himself into the groove of everything sounding the same and did not offer any "new" inspirations on this Classic cd. If you have not previously enjoyed Kenny's previous cd's, this would be a fine choice to own, but if you have previous work from Kenny G, this cd may approach the areas of "the same old thing". This cd was obviously made with commercialism as the main theme, instead of his very talented, artful, and creativeness that I have enjoyed in the past.
