Pros:
Has some really funny parts.
Cons:
Can there be any cons to ICP? I think not. :)
The Insane Clown Posse has another hit with this album. Unfortunately, one of the reviewers of this song was right when they said that ICP started going mainstream with this album, and they lost their older beats, but that's true about everyone. This is the first album of ICP's that made it onto the Billboard Charts. (If I remember correctly, they made it into the top 20, but I'm not positive.) ICP has been progressing ever since their first album. If they made every album the same, there would be no need to buy their new albums, so it's a good thing they changed this up a little. I do miss their old beats, but that's why I buy their older CDs. The reason I bought this album of theirs was because I've been an ICP fan ever since the first time I heard "Nedden Game" on their Great Milenko album. Then, I got a few people here addicted, and we all went out to buy The Amazing Jeckell Brothers. Since then I've have bought a few more ICP records and liked them all. But, back to the topic.
The Amazing Jeckell Brothers is a great CD because ICP uses tons of different techniques when making their music. They'll experiment using different styles, and they can make each style look good. Also, they're lyrics are all great. Some songs are "heart-felt" like F**k the World and Terrible, and some songs are just there for entertainment like The Shaggy Show. ICP always changes it up to "keep it real fresh." Also, this is the fifth installment to ICP's series of Joker's Cards. There's supposed to be six Joker's Cards (CDs) released, and after the sixth one, as far as I understand it, the world is supposed to end. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) It's kind of a cheesy story line, but it does keep one entertained. Also, the last thing I like about this, is that ICP will go to any lengths to make fun of a person, and not care what that person thinks.
This album, like I said before, still has some of the same freshness as their previous albums, but it's a bit more modern. They have changed quite a bit since the last album, but the same clowns are still there behind all the face paint, and you can tell it. If you've listened to any of their other albums, you'd only have to listen to one of these songs to realize that it's ICP that's putting this album out.
I would recommend Twizted as an album with a similar sound. The two bands (ICP and Twizted) are great friends, and you can tell by the similarities of their music. In fact, the two groups are working to put out an album together. (They'll be known as Dark Lotus for that album.)
All-in-all it's a great CD. Every track is great. It's not just one or two that you'll like. It's worth paying full price.
