Pros:
Upbeat, romantic, and full of soul
Cons:
none
I don t know why it took me so long to buy this cd. I love the Ally McBeal show and look forward to laughing every Monday night. The music is refreshingly bouncy, bluesy, or whatever the mood decrees and perfect for the show, whatever the scenario.
Vonda Shepherd is the vibrant voice at the piano bar that the McBeal crew dance to every week. I d never seen her before, but started looking forward to hearing her sing just as much as I looked forward to the zany sitcom itself. This cd features the show s theme song as well as a wonderful variety of others---many of which are great oldies but goodies I remember from my own yesteryears. Aaah, yes, the good ole high school days, love, romance, tears, break-ups, make-ups. She brings it all back with zest! Ha!!!
Searchin My Soul is the themesong. It is very upbeat and has great lyrics about movin on acknowledging mistakes of the past and getting on with life and love.
Other favorites on the cd are:
Hooked On a Feeling---Sings it with a touch of the way I ve heard it before but definitely exercises her own style with that great raspy quality she has!
You Belong To Me and The End of the World: 2 oldies that she has the ability to sing in such a way as to pull out old memories and feelings I had growing up .oooh that goood feeling of being sad, lonely, and romantic at the same time. I know that sounds crazy, but sometimes those wispy times feel good, too!
Tell Him and It s In His Kiss: 2 great upbeat songs that have me moving and singing right along with her. She inspires the dancing in the kitchen, pretending I have a microphone in my hand spells I get when I hear her belt these out.
The Wildest Times of the World: This is an original song by Vonda. Great percussion back up. Cool song. Aint it funny how you walk through life and it turns on a dime. Her voice is soooo smooth! Two other songs on the cd are Vonda originals: Maryland, and The Wildest Times of My Life---both uniquely Vonda with lots of soul.
There isn t a bad song on the whole cd. It s a great one to put on when I need a pick-me-upper, or as background to reading & writing on epinions. She has a couple other cds out, too, and I m sure I will be checking them out .but for a starter, you can t miss with this one!
