Pros:
New Style. Great Voice.
Cons:
None.
The 1997 album "Let Me In" is the third release from Chely Wright. This was the first Chely album I owned, and at the time I thought it was her debut until I learned differently. This album is great, and shows a change not only in the songs Chely sings, but also in her vocal delivery. This album seems to be the evolution from Chely from combining modern and old country sounds, into the full blown modern sound which she presents beautifully. This album also shows Chely using her voice in a new way, which is going all the way with it and presenting a more well rounded sound. "Let Me In" was probably the most successful of the three Chely albums, creating the great singles "Shut Up And Drive", "I Already Do", and "Just Another Heartache".
"Let Me In" is a country powerhouse of 10 great songs. In this album, Chely helps co-write and write a large number of the songs. This album also features the great skill of singer/song writer Matraca Berg. This album contains the most energy found in the first three Chely albums. Songs like "Just Another Heartache", "Is It Love Yet?" and "Feelin' Single and Seein' Double", show this energy with their fast beats. There is also several great slow songs, which contain an electrifying performance by Chely, such as "I Already Do", "Before You Lie", and "10 LB. Heart". The song "10 LB. Heart" is also performed by the artist Mila Mason, but in my opinion Chely's version is much better.
From combining sounds, to the modern sound, Chely has stayed true to the real country sound and not straying to pop crossover like some of the most famous country artists. "Let Me In" has brought Chely into the spotlight more, and has shown her true ability to shine with the brightest stars. The future is Chely's for the taking, and I'm sure she will deliver many more wonderful albums.
