Pros:
Great lyrics, melodies
Cons:
None
Given that I own each and every one of Blues Travelers CDs, I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert on their music. That said, I hope you take it to heart that this CD represents the band's best work yet. The CD kicks off strong with Carolina Blues and continues on to the well versed last track Make My Way. As always, the CD is comprised of a mixture of driving rock, ballads, and purely entertaining songs. Here are just a few highlights from the CD:
Track 2 Felicia: a different kind of sound for BT, combines good music with a easy to follow story, nothing to heavy but some catchy lyrics
Track 4 Canadian Rose: a love song with a story to it that will keep you engrossed in the song without having to concentrate so hard that you lose sight of the music behind it
Track 5 Business as Usual: a great song about the dangers and corruption of business, one of BT's more moral songs but provides a great message to anyone willing to pay attention to the words and heed its warnings
Track 6 Your's: My personal favorite of all time, the song is a love ballad but never feels as cloyingly sweet as some of the nonesense put out by many groups today, combines the flawless melodies expected from BT with uncompromising lyrics, a song about fear of commitment but willingness to overcome that fear for true love
Track 7 Psycho Joe: A fun song about catching and cooking killers, 'nuff said
In short, this is a great CD. Even if you aren't a specific BT fan, give it a try anyways. I think you will find yourself pleasantly surprised!
