Pros:
Roberts, Quaid, Duval, and the entire cast, and a brilliant script
Cons:
none
I first watched Something To Talk About after over a year of longing to see it, but never getting around to it. Now that I have seen this movie, I am thrilled that I did, and am ready to watch it again...and again!!!
This is one of those rare movies that can have you crying one minute, and laughing the next. Full of realistic family and relationship issues, as well as one liners that anyone can agree with and find hilarious, I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I liked this movie.
Dennis Quaid and Julia Roberts are magnificent as a couple that has fallen off track, trying to figure out if they can fix what went wrong in their marriage, and if its even worth trying. Both characters have their faults, but that is so much better than the typical "man cheats on perfect wife because he is a louse" syndrome that so many movie and book plots resort to.
Aside from being a realistic drama, Something To Talk About is also a humorous comedy that touches on a lot of the things we wish that we could say, but never do, and the things that in life aren't funny, but that can be reacted to in the darndest ways...
Anyone in need of a good romantic comedy, but who also wants a bit of realism, should definately see this movie!
