A Bronx Tale (1998, DVD)

A Bronx Tale is an amazing movie. I have showed it to everyone close to me ages ranging from 10 to my 87 year old Grandmother. There is frequent cursing but it is gangster style and fits the movie. The movie gives you a real sense of what it was like to grow up in the Bronx during that era. I highly recommend this movie. Good luck finding one as they don't cary it in stores any more.

This is a great movie.It's a morality play without being preachy.DeNiro plays a bus driver determined to keep his son on the straight and narrow.But the son idolizes local gang boss Sonny (Chazz Palmintieri,in a great role).Of course the son doesn't listen to his dad and becomes a protege' of Sonny.But Sonny is surprisingly warm hearted towards the boy,and tries to keep him out of the illegal business.Set in the 1960s there is a great sountrack and lots of classic cars abound.Eventually Sonny is gunned down,and the son and father finally reconcile.Palmintieri,and DeNiro both are superb in this one.Bronx Tale is a winner!

I was very happy with this purchase. It came in perfect condition, and came exactly on time for the persons birthday that it was meant for. I would definitely buy from this person again.

I liked the quality of the item. I decided to buy it because, it seemed like a good deal. i like to buy items on line, especialy ebAY. iTS MY FAVORITE, i think they have a great reputation overall, at least thats been my experience in dealing with them.

The movie is a classic, and marks Robert DeNiro's directorial debut. The DVD has long been out of print and there are no immediate plans to re-release it to the home DVD market. The film is a classic mob tale with great characters. The only bad thing about this film is the picture quality. When I first popped it in, I was shocked at how bad the picture quality was (film was viewed on a blu-ray player on a 1080i compatible television). I had heard numerous complaints about this from different sources, but seeing is believing. The quality of the picture could be compared to VHS.

That aside, the film is a joy to watch. The DVD does have multiple language options, and subtitles. Special features include a behind the scenes featurette, cast bios, trailer, and promotional spots.

Overall, being that there are no plans for a re-release, I would say buy the film if you feel (like I did) it is a must-have for your DVD library.

Great storyline! I had an orignal copy but it was scratched and not viewable. I bought this movie because it is out of print and very hard to find.

I was quite upset and frustrated when I found out that A Bronx Tale was no longer in print and could not be bought at any of my local retailers. I did find solace in ebay and the fact I knew I could find it online. When my DVD finally arrived and I popped it in my DVD player, then my Playstation 2, I was devastated when the display on my player said, "Can not read disc, regional restrictions." After I received my DVD I found out the DVD was made in the UK. I didn't mind paying the 30-some dollars for the disc, but when it wouldn't play it sucked. Luckily I have a Mac laptop and I could play it on that. Great movie and I'm glad to have it, I just wish it could play on my DVD player not my ten-inch monitor. Make sure you check where your DVD was made, because it may not play.

Whats there to say..DeNiro, Palminteri...in a gangster movie? It doesn't get any better!!! Don't know why its out of print, but should be an addition in anybody's movie collection..can be watched over and over, kinda like the "Godfather"movies

Fantastic Movie - Historically like the times. Dinero directoral debut is fantasic and Palmitieri is fantastic as well

I have owned this movie on VHS for years and when i finally foudn out of its availability on DVD, i heard that it was out of print. It is a great movie, Robert De niro's directional debut. The acting is good and the storyline is understandable. I found it on a Ebay and i was very excited, i think i have watched like two or three times since i received it.

This is a great story, it has action and a very heart warming story about a boy torn between his father trying to raise him right and the neighborhood wiseguys. The head of the local mafia guys takes the kid under his wing and exposes him to everything his parents are trying to shelter him from.And he is torn between them. This is an excellent movie!

Excellent condition. Factory sealed. This was my first E-Bay purchase, so I was somewhat skeptical. Took a little longer to receive my purchase than what I thought, but only because the seller was on vacation(?..can't remember). However, the seller sent me an e-mail within days and apologized for the delay. It was nice that the seller notified me that my purchase was forthcoming instead of me having to guess what was going on. I didn't mind the wait then. Even then, I believe my purchase arrived within days. I would buy from this seller again.

I WANTED THIS MOVIE BECAUSE IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND IT ANYWHERE FOR LESS THAN $25 SINCE IT'S OUT OF PRINT. I GOT A GREAT DEAL AND RECEIVED THE DVD PROMPTLY. THIS MOVIE IS A MUST HAVE!!!!

Have always loved this movie. Now it is in my collection. Palmintierri's defining performance as Mafioso with a silver of good.

I LIKE THE WHOLE FAMILY THING ABOUT THE WRONGS AND RIGHTS OF BRINGING UP YOUR CHILD IN A GOOD ENVIRONMENT. THE ACTIONS WAS GREAT WITH FABULOUS ACTORS. I HAVE ALL THE MOB MOVIES AND THAT WAS A CLASSIC I DID NOT HAVE.

This movie is a classic, I bought it for a friends son, who had requested it for his birthday. It does contain some bad language, but all in all, a great movie. The classic italian bad guys killing the other guys type of movie, with a touch of old fashion rebelous teens, street frienships, loyalties and tough lessons learned. It also has a young forbidden love interest. Definately a "gotta watch that again movie!

My son loaned the movie out and never got it back. I knew it was out of print so when I found it on ebay, I had to have it. I can identify with the movie. I grew up during those times and my family was from that section of the Bronx. The church and the school looked so familiar to me but did not physically resemble E187th Street. After seeing the movie a few times and then reading the credits at the end, I realized it was filmed in my old neighborhood. The church was the one I got married in and the school was the one I graduated from, both in Queens. DeNiro did a great job of making this story realistic. The soundtrack was perfect too. It is truly a Bronx tale, even if it was filmed mostly in Queens.
