Measure of a Man - Sharp, Kevin (CD 1996)

This man is pure inspiration. I just finished reading all the reviews on this CD. There was something said in the first one, that inspired me to write about it. The person who wrote it, said that they almost didn't buy this CD because his bald head turned them off. I am sure that they were not aware of the reason for his baldness, so it is understandable. You see this remarkable man has been battling that dreadful disease Cancer. Although I do believe he is now in remission. This is one of the reasons he thanks so many people is his insert. They all stood by him during his treatments, and he still became successful. With all the complications, that I am sure you are all aware of, that are associated with Cancer. This CD is truly inspirational. He sings from his heart, and you can hear how heartfelt his music is.

All of the songs on this CD are great. Bare with me, and I will brief you on some of them.

MEASURE OF A MAN
This is the title song to this CD. What a strong song with a good message.
A man explaining to his son how a man is measured. He says he may never have a big house or a fancy car, that he judges a man by what is in the inside and not the outside. Singing...It Ain't how far you go, it ain't how much you make son, it's what you give, not what you take.
He gives an honest days work for an honest days pay. That he stands true to his word. This is how all people should be judged.

NOBODY KNOWS
This is my favorite song on this CD. Oh what a beautiful song. A man sings to a lost love. He talks about pretending that he is glad that she left, and that he puts on a show. He misses her but nobody knows it but him. Singing...Why didn't I say the things I needed to say? How could I let my angel get away? Then tells how his world is tumbling down. How his heart is being torn apart like a jigsaw puzzle. This song brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it.

IF YOU LOVE SOMEBODY
This is a very upbeat song, one to listen to if you are in a happy mood.
He sings about how you will do anything for the one you love. Climb Mount Everest, swim the Mississippi to the Delta and back. Singing If you love somebody, that's what you do. If you love somebody and your love is true, you don't think twice about being a fool. If you love somebody the way that I do you. Great song about love.

THERE'S ONLY YOU
A song about the perfect love. He says that in every life one perfect love comes your way. He thanks the Lord for bringing him her. Singing...Every night I thank the Lord above for giving you to me. All my life I'll give you all my love, true and faithfully. Another great love song.

SHE'S SURE TAKING IT WELL
This is sort of a depressing song. It tells of a man and his lady love deciding to go their own ways and giving each other space. She seems to be taking it all in stride, and not let it bother her, while it is killing him. He sings...There go all of my dreams melting like sugar in the rain. I would love to believe she's only smiling through the pain. All the tears are mine. Shouldn't she be sad, after losing everything we had.

This is one CD that I would not be without. I would recommend it to anyone. It can be purchased in any department store, or music store, at a very reasonable price of $14.95.
