Pros:
Great beats, voices, rhythms, words, all around real music!
Cons:
Nothing!
My other favorite group to ever come out. I can picture myself someday at seventy years old still rocking out to this band. And of course still being romantic with my significant other with Def Leppard's more slow romantic songs. Def Leppard is just one of the groups that can do it all. They have songs perfect for parties to keep it live, songs you just play in the car on long drives relaxing, and romantic melodies to play with your other by candle light. Almost every record they brought out you can just hit play on song one and never touch the seek button as each song is worth listening to. This is so hard to do with other bands. The seek button is one of the best inventions ever made but, not for Def Leppard.
When they came out with the 1980-1995 Def Leppard Vault CD I was actually hesitant to buy it. I am not one that buys to many greatest hits albums. This is because, if I like the group enough to buy their greatest hits then I probably already have all of their albums and songs on tape or CD. And usually I disagree with some of the song selections on greatest hits albums. I went ahead and purchased this 15 song collection because I love Def Leppard more than any other group, besides Scorpions. I was actually very pleased with what they put together. They put nothing but their best songs on the album. This CD was made before the new rule that a group must put at least two new songs (or two songs they have never released) on a greatest hits albums before it can be brought out. There is one song they brought out that was not previously released and that song is, When Love And Hate Collide. I doesn't matter if you have all their albums besides this one, this album is a must. Besides, it would save you time changing CD's to hear all of these songs. You will have this album in your car at all times and it will be one of your most played by far.
Songs off the album Hysteria:
Song #1: Pour Some Sugar On Me 4:52
They start this album off with one of their all time best, Pour Some Sugar Me. This rock song came off their Hysteria album and was #1 for quite some time. This version is the video edit and displays a nice new beginning. This song still, and has always, had one of the best beats, guitar, and words to any rock song ever made. Just one of those songs if you don't feel your feet going with the beat than if I were you I would check your pulse.
Song #3: Love Bites 5:56
Still one of my favorite soft rock songs, Love Bites definitely makes this album. Love Bites combines a nice slow rhythm, with some romantic guitar, along with heart wrenching words. This song also has some great background singing to get you swaying in your seat. Perhaps not a song to sing to a woman but, a great song to just close your eyes and remember some of your past relations with women. It will bring back some memories. Truly a masterpiece in the music world that I will listen to, to the day I die.
Song #6: Animal 4:03
One of those songs I mentioned earlier that you just play in your car with the top rolled down and enjoying the drive. Animal has a solid beat, some great background singing, and some nice guitar. Maybe not the best song put out by Def Leppard but, definitely worthy of making this album. Your butt will be moving to this one.
Song #8: Rocket 4:07
The one song on the album I wish was not there. In my Epinion "Woman" should have been in this place instead of Rocket by a long shot. However, anyone I have ever talked too about Def Leppard have always really liked this song so I guess it's just me. This is another that is the video edit but, it doesn't change to much. Just a little different beginning and end. It does shrink the song length by about 2 minutes which I actually liked. The song does have a catchy beat just nothing else to really offer in my book. Again, I think it's just me on this song.
Song #10: Armageddon It 5:22
Back to the true Def Leppard sound with Armageddon It (yes I'm gettin it). Great beat, solid guitar and drums, and great words. I was glad to this on here. Just another song to play in the car with the volume up loud enough to see your rear view mirror bumping to the beat.
Song #13: Hysteria 5:56
Another one of my personal favorites here. This romantic slow rock song ranks among the all time best with beat and words. The best part about of this song, besides the words, is that it is not to slow. Still keeps that upbeat tempo going along with a nice romantic style. No matter what style of music you listen too this will be one of your favorite songs if you have not heard it before.
Songs of the album Pyromania
Song #2: Photograph 4:08
One of their better rock songs Photograph is a solid all around song to listen to. Solid beat along with solid guitar. Just a great song to play anytime, anywhere, with anyone. Not mush else to say about this one besides it's a great song.
Song #7: Foolin 4:34
Another demonstration of how good Def Leppard was at making the slower songs still rock it up. Awesome beat, awesome guitar, great words, and solid background singing. This song has it all, some slow sway head parts along with faster let's dance parts. Great all around song you have to hear.
Song #12: Rock Of Ages 4:08
Oh ya, this one rocks all right. One of their best rock sons they ever made. One of the best rock songs ever made in my Epinion. Flat out awesome guitar, along with a great beat, and some solid words. One of those songs no matter what type of music you like you will not dislike this one. I'm not a country fan myself but, if I hear a good country song I know it. This is one for you other types of music lovers to at least listen too. However, to this day I still don't know what he means in the beginning. Anyone know?
Songs of the album Adrenalize
Song #4: Let's Get Rocked
On to their later music, Let's Get Rocked still showed the bands rock side and their way to mince words together. Of course let's get rocked is not what the song is about but, rock had to be used in order to keep Adrenalize of the "must be 18 to purchase" rack. Great beat, solid guitar, and some enticing words. You will definitely be swaying to the sound of this one!
Song #11: Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad
Back the bands later softer rock with this one. A nice slow rhythm, slow beat, and some great singing. A lot of us will be able to relate to the words (even the title) of this song. One of those you don't play at certain times and one that you play and close your eyes to. Great slow rock song.
Songs of the album Retro Active
Song #5: Two Steps Behind
This song, from the movie Last Action Hero, is just a great little unique number. The song features great words and just the sound of an old style 6 string. A good song to just listen to if you want a little change in music.
Song #14: Miss You In A Heartbeat
A sad, but great slow song. Has great piano, words, and a little guitar. You will be just closing your eyes and singing with this one. I was pleasantly surprised to see this song on this "greatest hits" album. Was my favorite song off the Retro Active album but, I didn't think would make the album. This song just shows off the bands versatility of music.
Song of the album High 'N Dry
Song #15: Bringin' On The Heartbeat
The song that started it all for Def Leppard. If this one wasn't on here I would have called them myself. Even though Def Leppard is my personal favorite bands now, I wasn't too happy when I heard the album High 'N Dry until I got to this song. All of a sudden the tape was in my car and one song was being played to death. This song has an awesome beat, awesome words, and solid guitar. One of my favorite songs of all time. A must hear for anyone!
Song not previously released
Song #9: When Love & Hate Collide
I actually was able to hear this song before they put it on this album. If you have a Tower Records anywhere near you and don't go in there, check them out. They have a section of music from bands that have put songs on a tape but didn't release it. Def Leppard had quite a few including this one (and Fractured Love from Rectro Active). There is a released single of this song now. I was extremely happy to see this song on the album. I can do away with the single now. The song has a great slow rock beat, awesome words. A very romantic song that is a must hear by anyone at least once!
Overall
I was very happy with Vault album all together. I might have put 2 songs in a little different such as "Women" (from Hysteria) and To Late For Love (from Pyromania). I would have replaced Rocket and Two Steps Behind with these songs but, I am not the one that is rich now from putting albums together. If you are a Leppard fan and don't have this album it's a must buy. You will still want Hysteria and Pyromania close by but, this one will be the one in your car. This band had to combat a ton of adversity in their long music career and they did it with style. As this album demonstrates.
