Pros:
great love ballads
Cons:
some of the songs I could do without
What can I say about Aerosmith, besides that their music is great! I bought Aerosmith's "Big Ones" 4 years ago because I like just about every song on it. "Big Ones" is full of Aerosmith's biggest and best hits from 1987 to 1994. From "Love In an Elevator" to "Livin' On The Edge" you will be rocking your way to a good time. From Steven Tyler screaming his way through the album to the great guitars you will love this album from beginning to end.

The previously unreleased song "Walk On Water" has great guitar solos and a nice beat. This is a different kind of song from other songs on this album. It has a different sound from what I'm used to from Aerosmith. But, they did a great job with the song. "Hey little darlin', your love is legendary, Love's four letters ain't in my dictionary, 'Scuse my position, but it ain't missionary, Ah, but I want to walk on water with you".
Now on to the famous "Love In An Elevator", now who doesn't like this song?! Yes, I know this song is raunchy, but hey it has a great beat and lots of energy. Listening to the lyrics anyone can tell what they are talking about. "Love in an elevator, Livin' it up when I'm goin down, Love in an elevator, Lovin' it up 'til I hit the ground". The guitar solo and background music make it even better.
Another high-energy Aerosmith song is "Rag Doll". Yet another song we know what they are singing about, but we love the song just the same. This song has great guitar work, and great screaming, I mean singing from Steven Tyler throughout the song. "Rag doll, livin' in a movie, hot tramp daddy's little cutie, so fine they'll never see my leavin' by the back door, man".
Now slowing it down a bit we hear "What It Takes". This is a beautiful song, with wonderful lyrics. Steven even brings his voice down to a nice tone, singing this beautifully. The background music is great, and has a wonder guitar solo in the middle of the song. "Tell me what it takes to let you go, Tell me how the pain's supposed to go, Tell me how it is that you can sleep in the night, without thinking you lost everything that was good in your life to the toss of the dice? Tell me what it takes to let you go".
Now bringing up the energy level again we hear "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)". I can still remember the video to this song. This song has a great beat and musical background. Here again we hear Steven with his signature screaming his way through the song. This is another great song for Aerosmith. "Dude look like a lady, dude look like a lady".
"Janie's Got A Gun" sends a powerful message with its wonderful lyrics. The background music is kind of haunting, but it helps get the powerful message the song is telling. "Tell me now it's untrue, what did her daddy do? He jacked a little bitty baby, the man has got to be insane, They say the spell they he was under the lightening and the thunder knew that someone had to stop the rain".
Staying on a slow love ballad theme we come to songs "Cryin" and "Amazing". Both of these songs featured Steven Tyler's daughter Liv in the music video, along with Alicia Silverstone. Both songs have a great beat, and wonderful musical backgrounds. "I was cryin' when I met you, now I'm tryin' to forget you, your love is sweet misery, I was cryin' just to get you, now I'm dyin' cause I let you". The following lyrics to the song "Amazing" are wonderful as well, "It's amazing with the blink of an eye you finally see the light".
The previously unreleased song "Blind Man" has a wonderful beat. This is another great Aerosmith, but most of their songs are great. "I met a blind man who taught me how to see, a blind man who could change night into day, and if I can, I'm gunna make you come with me".
The previously unreleased song "Deuces Are Wild" is on the soundtrack for the "Beavis and Butthead Experience". This is not one of my favorite songs, but it does have a nice beat and wonderful lyrics. This song has slow lyrics, and then picks up the pace throughout the song. "I love you cause your deuces are wild girl, Like a double shot of love is so fine".
The song "The Other Side" is another popular song with Aerosmith fans. The guitar solo is fantastic, as it always is. The music, lyrics and singing are wonderful. Steven Tyler once again puts so much energy into his singing. "Lovin you has got to be (take me to the other side), like the devil and the deep blue sea (take me to the side)".
Slowing it down a bit, we come to another great love ballad by Aerosmith, "Crazy". This is another high-energy song. The lyrics are wonderful and the music is wonderful. This is another great from Aerosmith. "I go crazy, crazy, baby I go crazy, you turn it on then you're gone, yeah you drive me crazy, crazy, crazy for you baby".
The song Eat The Rich has a great beat, but its not one of my favorites. The music and screaming in the background are ok. Eat the rich, there s only one thing that they re good for, eat the rich, take one bite now - come back for more . This is another high-energy song for Aerosmith.
Slowing it down one last time we come to Angel . This song is beautifully sung, the lyrics are great, and the music is beautiful and haunting at times. This is one of my favorite Aerosmith love ballads. You re my angel come and save me tonight, you re my angel come and make it alright . I think the following lyrics are wonderful and powerful, I want your love let s break this wall between us, Don t make it tough I ll put away my pride, enough is enough, I ve suffered and I ve seen the light .
The song Livin On The Edge has a great beat, but its not one of my favorites. My husband loves this song though. The guitar solos are wonderful though. We re livin on the edge, you can t help yourself from fallin , livin on the edge you can t help yourself at all .
I recommend Aerosmith s Big Ones to all of their fans, even if your not a big fan this album is still a must have for any collection. The above songs come from 3 different Aerosmith albums, Pump , Permanent Vacation and Get A Grip . The love ballads are sure to win over the hearts of the lovebirds out there, and the rock and roll will make the rockers out there happy. I m sure the songs will bring back many memories to most of you.
