Pros:
A few new songs that weren't in the movie
Cons:
Mostly the same songs as the movie
I am a huge musical theater fan, and I love that Disney chose to use Broadway composers for the animated features.
Alan Menken and Howard Ashman also teamed up on Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and the musical Little Shop of Horrors. Menken also did the music for Disney's movie musical Newsies.
Tim Rice, who contributed lyrics to Beauty and the Beast, worked on the 1980s musical Chess (which included the song "One Night in Bangkok", which is one of those few Broadway songs that found it's way to mainstream radio). He also teamed up with Andrew Lloyd Webber on Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar. He did the lyrics for The Lion King, collaborating with Elton John. (I guess that's enough of 6 degrees of Broadway composers for now).
I saw Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, and it's cute; a good one for children (Lion King is more creative and artistic, though harder to get tickets to). It's like going to a stage production you'd see at Disney World rather than a traditional musical. Great for kids, not so much for adults alone (unless you're a huge Disney fan).
The musical adds a few songs that weren't in the movie. The Beast has an extra ballad, but I think my favorite is Gaston's song "Me", which contains my favorite line in the show: "We shall be the perfect pair, rather like my thighs!"
