Every LP or CD of Bruce Springsteen The Boss has its attraction. At least every fan will report this, but what do I think of his early songs? You ll find many good songs on this brilliant album!
__Bruce Springsteen: Darkness on the Edge of Town__
The fourth album of Bruce Springsteen needed almost three years from writing the first notes on a sheet of paper up to reaching the shelves into the stores all around the world. As expected the boss Bruce Springsteen produced a great and well selling album. Now I d like to tell you something about the album and the songs.
Track 01 __04:04__ *****
Badlands
The first one is one of my favourites. From my point of view Badlands is one of the best powerful songs which the boss ever has recorded in his career. Fast music paired with high emotions makes you feel good. This song live is an advantage, too. All together a brilliant start into the CD.
Track 02 __4:34__ ****
Adam raised a cain
This song is a little bit more rough and less melodic than its predecessor on this album. Somehow it seems to the listener as if Bruce Springsteen mixed it up with some blues sounds. The result is a good song but not a brilliant one.
Track 03 __5:14__ *****
Something in the night
What for a great song! Brilliant piano sounds paired with the voice of Bruce in the background that s the reason why this song became a very special one. Something in the night is a first-class slower piece of music with a lot of emotions in it.
Track 04 __2:48__ *****
Candy`s room
This one starts very slowly and ends in a very big hurricane. This is probably the fastest song of the album with high enjoyment factor. At first the song sounds a little bit like one of John Cugar Mellencamp`s, but it is still the boss.
Track 05 __6:55__ *****
Racing in the street
With Racing in the streets follows up a big Springsteen ballad which reaches the atmosphere and the emotions of for example The River. Brilliantly like the voice of the boss is combined with light piano sounds a very great song to enjoy!
Track 06 __4:28__ *****
The promised land
Now the boss lets it crash again. Bruce Springsteen presents a very fast song with a an outstanding melody and a brilliant refrain. A song in order to enjoy with inserted feel-good-guarantee . You will enjoy it!
Track 07 __2:19__ *****
Factory
Factory is another slower performance. In itself, a normal song which becomes, however, on account of its dominance of the hammond organ a very interesting experience which ends, unfortunately, very quickly.
Track 08 __4:03__ *****
Streets of fire
This one here is still a quieter and slower one. Streets of fire is very melancholic. Feel free to dream and enjoy the emotions of this very good song. At the end Bruce Springsteen starts a short but violent firework. This ending of the song is bombastic and very interesting.
Track 09 __4:00__ *****
Prove it all night
This song is a very powerful one and makes you move. Bruce Springsteen combined fast sounds with a great melody to inspire the listener. By singing a slower part in the middle the boss gives you a few seconds to recover from the faster parts of prove it all night. Perfect mix and one of the best songs on this cd.
Track 10 __4:30__ *****
Darkness on the edge of town
Sad but true: Darkness on the edge of town is the last song of this cd. There was a law case around the song which is, however, for the listener without importance we have to enjoy the music without taking a look of what happened at the law-court. The song is very powerful and shows the whole range of the boss again. Darkness on the edge of town is a dignified conclusion of this cd.
Cover & Booklet
How it was normaly in the 80`s, the design of the cover and the booklet is not very special. However, commendably is once again that you will find all song texts in the booklet.
__ Sum__
This Bruce Springsteen album named Darkness on the edge of town is a very great one. You will find nice ballads and very good rock songs here. Great guitar sound paired with the fantastic voice of the Boss what do we need more? This album is different to the album Tunnel of love as this one here presents the whole range of the boss. There are no weak songs and every separate one has its own attraction. A very interesting thing to mention is that you will find this CD for only 7,99 in the stores. Not much for such a great one! The album is suitable for all occasions it doesn t matter if you hear it while driving your car or for having a beautiful evening at home.
The End
You want 100% pure Bruce Springsteen? No problem, buy this great CD and enjoy listening to it. I recommend this album without restriction to everyone.
