Love Songs [Remaster] - John, Elton (CD 2001)

I saw Elton John in concert a few months ago and let me just say he was wonderful. Gone are the flamboyant costumes and wild stage antics. What was left was a truly remarkable a man with a huge stage present, who can not only play a piano, but sing as well.

Many time during that concert he made mention of this CD, Love Songs. I have been on search since, until I ran across it in the store just the other day.

After picking the CD up and reading the songs that were included I knew I had to have this CD.

Elton John was what rock and roll was in my growing up days, many experiences my high school days are remembered by an Elton John song. As I have listened to this CD, many of those great memories have come flooding back time and time again.

With songs such as Daniel, Your Song and Candle In The Wind you get some of the earlier hit songs that were written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. These two when together writing have written some of the best songs ever recorded by Elton.

With Can You Feel The Love Tonight and Circle of Life, Elton teamed up with Tim Rice for the Lion King and hit the mark once again with these beautiful songs.

My favorite on this album Your Song, is a beautiful song that takes me back to my younger and care free days of High School. This song just makes me feel good.

These are the kinds of songs that can make you just want to sit for hours and reminisce or as the album title would say these are great Love Songs.

The only thing on this CD that I wasn't that happy was the duet with George Michael. I enjoy listening to Elton and would have been perfectly happy without this duet. The song Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, even though it sounds as if was recorded live would have been much better with just Elton singing and playing.

Candle In the Wind is a beautiful song all by itself. Whether it is the original song written about Marilyn Monroe or the song done in tribute to Princess Diana, there is nothing better to listen to than the words of this song. It will definitely make you think of those days and those times.

Whether or not you are a huge Elton John fan or just enjoy light rock music, this CD will please you immensely.

As you are listening just remember these are Love Songs, but I could listen to this album anytime. It is great to drive by, clean your house by or just sit all by yourself for some quite time and listen to.
