If Nine Inch Nails were techno and upbeat, this is what they would sound like.

Pros:
The first few songs. Funky beats.
Cons:
They tend to get boring. The album runs on too long.
Duran Duran came out in...I don't know. I don't really know anything about these guys, someone gave me this CD last summer, and I only heard about 1 song by these guys, it was a single and I forget the name of it. I would guess they came out in the 70's and were big in the 80's. Can I go threw this review without giving some background information? Possibly. HA! I'm now answering my own questions.
The German alphabet is funny to hear. But if you have about 14 people singing it in German...its like the voices are taking over. No offense to anyone that is German.
So, Duran Duran released this album in 1993, and people say that it has been more succesful. I would agree...although I don't have any of their other albums and I don't really know if they changed styles or anything, if you don't like it...TOO BAD. Oh, I guess it sucks for me actually, I'm just sitting here trying to think of a background for these guys. Am I really going to get anywhere? Probably not. But what do I know? I'll get to the album now since I don't know anything about this band. After listening to this album, I do know that they have a funky sound.
If Nine Inch Nails were techno, upbeat, and 70's...this is what they would sound like.
"Too Much Information" starts off the album. I get into this, it has that rock and techno edge to it. The lyrics are great, and the beat is just catchy. I personally like the drumming and the mix of other sounds that fit in with the singers vocals. This is a great song, and a great opener.
"Ordinary World" is a bit sad, it has that sad drum pound and the soft guitars with the slow sound. The slow and sad lyrics are also here. This is brilliant, everything is great here.
The bass comes in on "Love Voodoo". This has the funky instruments and the odd vocals. I get into this as well, the song just slowly creeps up on you, just something to listen to.
The funky sounds and piano comes in on "Drowning Man". These guys are techno! Boom...Boom...Na Na Na Nuh Nuh Na Nuh Na. This is something you can dance to, although I really don't understand the lyrics, but the keyboards and the beats here are brilliant. This is amazing, and I'm not really into this type of stuff. I would wonder what the hell I'd be listening to if I was riding around a neighborhood with the windows down and blasting this song.
"Shotgun" is....filler.
"Come Undone" is next. I think these guys use instruments that I don't even know the names of. They got the jingle bells going here and the slow lyrics and slow sound. This is nice...but rather weak and non enjoyable.
"Breath After Breath" is odd, and a bit weak once again. They do NOT show their techno side here, they have the same sound here only different styles of lyrics throughout the song. Keyboards, thats what I'm looking for. This is another one I get bored of listening to.
"UMF". You better know what this stands for. U Mother Fuc...you get it. This is once again slow and a bit boring. It has the same sound throughout the whole thing. I straight up don't like this. I think this guy is trying to rap here, but fails.
One song that I do like to listen to here is "To Whom It May Concern" just for the music and beats. The vocals are not bad, but the beats here are funky. That's all I have to say...
The album closes with the 7 minute funkbuster of "Sin of the City". I like this, the drum beats are great, and the lyrics here are well done. It is interesting and doesnt get boring. Something to listen to.
This album has its strong points, but also has its weak points. The first few songs are strong, and the others are a bit weak, but will grow on you. Like I mentioned above, I know nothing about these guys, except they are a band. Anything else? Probably.
If you like these guys then go check out Nine Inch Nails. Buy "Pretty Hate Machine" or "The Downward Spiral" or something.
