Pros:
"UMF" and John Taylor!!
Cons:
It was made after the height of their career!
Duran Duran '93(The Wedding Album)is not quite the caliber of some of their previous works, but I'd say it's been more successful than 1988's "Big Thing" and 1990's "Liberty". However, the songs on the album hint of something other than wedding themes. There's nothing traditional or conservative about it, as the album's cover art might portray.
Since the album was released in February of '93, listeners are not going to hear any familiar tunes such as "Hungry Like The Wolf" or "Rio". Instead, they'll hear songs such as "Too Much Information", which tries to match the pattern of rock during the early 90s. And others, such as "UMF" and "Femme Fatale" match the style of early 90s R&B and boy bands like Color Me Badd and Boyz II Men. However, the songs "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone" are considered to be two of Duran Duran's greatest hits today. And they are more traditional in the sense that they sound like they could have been released in the 80s.
As I mentioned earlier, the cover art looks a little bit "conservative", and it hints that the music may be more mellow. But the pictures inside display lyrics taped to distorted pictures of the band members and various song subjects.
So I highly recommend the album for those fans who have it all, and even though it may not be their best material, it's Duran Duran nonetheless. If nothing else, the album contains two hit songs and some cool photography. And it has nothing whatsoever to do with weddings!!
