Pros:

This album is the one that catapulted Alice back into the public eye, and gained him a whole new load of fans. Not that it came out of nowhere. On previous, poor selling albums like 'Constricter' and 'Raise Your Fist And Yell', Alice had been experimenting with the pop-metal format unsuccessfully.
For 'Trash' however, Alice enlisted songwriter Desmond Child, who had previously worked with Bon Jovi, and so was prepared for writing pop-metal songs. With Desmond Child's songwriting talent and Alice's unique vocals and stage show, it seemed that a great album would be forthcoming.
Sadly, that album did not fulfil expectations. With the plugging of 'Poison', a truly fantastic song, one of Alice's best, many bought the album and were disappointed. Among 80's glam metal fans (fans of Bon Jovi,Motley Crue,Guns N Roses etc) it went down a storm, but among fans of Alice's earlier work, it was considered a disappointment.
The problem with the album is that it consists of some good songs (Poison,Only My Heart Talking,Hell Is Living Without You), surrounded by mounds of mediocre filler material, ranging from the decent (Bed Of Nails,House Of Fire) to the awful (This Maniac's In Love With You,I'm Your Gun.
The fantastic material almost makes it worth buying the album, but ultimately it doesn't make up for the dross.
I can't recommend the album unless you are a die-hard fan, who wants all material no matter what the quality.
