I lost 25 pounds on this diet in like 2 months. It works but you have to be disciplined and follow the steps I would recommend this diet to anyone trying to lose some quick pounds.
I have been on the Adkins diet for over four years now. The diet has been very successful for me to help me keep the 30 extra pounds I use to carry off. One thing that the Adkins diet does not approach is eating complex carbohydrates.
I have since converted to the South Beach diet...It has not helped my tan, but I have been successful keeping my weight the same. Now I eat complex carbs (sweet potatoes, wheat bread, brown rice, wheat pasta) with no weight gain.
This is a great conversion diet for you adkins fans.
i like it bc it gives detailed directions for following the South Beach Diet and even recipes. I decided to buy it bc I had used it in the past with success and of course could not find my old book. The South Beach Diet is a really livable diet as well as heart healthy - I recommend it.
This without a doubt is the healthiest, results oriented and doable diet that I have ever come across. Like most, I thought this diet may just hype but I was wrong. I've heard others lhave lost weight on this diet and it was the reason I purchased it. It was the best purchase I have ever made!
This is a wonderful book that I would highly recommend. The diet works! Of course, you have to stick to it , but it does work. It was hard the first few days, but once you start seeing results its very motivating

Many of you know that the South Beach Diet is one of the best to come down the line in some time. The three stages work for most anyone who is reasonably healthy. But did you know that doctors are now recommending South Beach for diabetics? It's true! My family physician told us about it recently. Because of the stricter dietary needs of diabetics, she recommended we not follow the restrictive dietary guidelines of the first stage. But stages two and three are excellent to help you lose the weight and then keep it off! She says it is almost custom made for the balance of foods needed in a diabetic diet. It is the most sensible diet yet, and combines the carb counting with good carb bad carb info and diet plan. Best used with the SOUTHBEACH DIET CARB counter book. Carb counting alone does not work..I always knew something was amiss when they told me to count the carbs on my broccoli! This book is the answer for alot of people who want to lose weight. As always, you may also want to supplement your diet with a good quality muti-vitamin complex. The first 2 weeks are the toughest, but after you get settled in to getting over your initial sugar cravings this diet is a relatively easy one to stay on. You have so many choices and can eat so many things..actually staying on the diet is the most important part of a sucessful weight loss regimen.
I like the fact that it is a good guide to a healthy lifestyle. It is not the latest version, but is still quite useful. I like having it as reference to keep me on track with good eating habits. I had been meaning to purchase this book and this was a good opportunity to purchase at a good price.

Very simple instructions for following the diet as well. I chose to purchase this book because I wanted to start a healthier lifestyle of eating and chose ebay because of the lower prices.
This diet is great! The diet is not impossible to do and is not starving you to death. My wife and I went to our family physician and were told we needed to exercise and diet when asked what diet, he suggested the south beach diet. Within the first 3 weeks I lost 20 lbs and my wife lost 12. The energy is there the stamina is great and we feel so much better.Before I did this diet at 5'8" 240, it just about did me in to mountain bike a mile. Within the second week I biked 10 miles and felt great. We are doing this for us and for our children so we can be there for them.We highly recommend this book and diet. Good luck with it, stick with it and you can have the same sucess as we are having.
This book is written so that anyone can easily understand the doctor's theory. It has changed the way I eat on a daily basis. It makes so much sense and is easy to apply to your everyday life. Phase one is pretty tough, but I can live on phases 2&3 for the rest of my life without feeling like I'm dieting. And after phase one - it's true that belly fat comes off first. Absolutlely amazing.
I bought 2 of the South Beach diet books as gifts. The service from both parties was excellent. I particularly like that more & more sellers are using money orders & checks as payment. I no longer use credit cards or paypal because of problems with phishing websites. I would recommend purchasing on e-bay.
I loved this book. It explained a lot about how my body deals with food choices. I am not very good at sticking to diets, but this book gives good info on helping a person make good, solid, and delicious food choices for life. That's what I need; not fads that work for a short time, but knowledge to help me sustain a decent weight and good health for life.
I ordered this book for the first time last year after hearing all the hype about this diet, and since I was still trying to take off some of my baby fat, I was hoping this book and diet would help me. This is a must have book, I have ordered this book not only for myself, but for many of my freinds and family. This is a great book on changing your lifestyle and diet. This is also an excellant book for anyone with heart problems or high blood pressure. I believe everyone should have this book in their kitchen, there are some excellant reciepes inside as well. I purchased The South Beach Diet book for my profession. I am a degreed health professional and have a client who is starting this plan. She was very excited about this program and I needed to be "informed" so that I could answer her questions.
Upon reading the book, I find it to be like most "guaranteed weight loss plans" - a gimmick. This is simply another plan that deprives the participant of a lot of calories and nutrients - esp. carbohydrates in the first two weeks. Of course one would have a reduction in bodyweight - they have greatly reduced the amount of calories they were previously consuming. In addition, the lack of carbohydrates causes your body to hold less water. Note I said water not fat. Which brings me to my next issue...
The fact that Dr. Agataston states you can lose belly fat first greatly disturbs me. The human body and it's ability to sustain life on this planet is very complex and amazing. I wish we could pick, choose and refuse which bodyparts we would like to lose and/or gain fat or muscle. It just doesn't work that way. The ability to reduce bodyweight and ultimately fat is simple - consume healthy low-fat/high fiber/quality protein foods in moderation and exercise aerobically most days of the week for at least 30 minutes.
The only thing I liked about this book was the recipes. The use of fresh vs processed foods is definitely a plus.
I will be adding this book to my health library to collect dust!
I liked the price, The diet is easy compared to some. I used it, lost 2 inches around the middle. It is a lifestyle book. You've got to not eat so much sugar, it says. It Strongly defines good carbs. Carbs from sources like soda are frowned on. But the best part, if you fall off the wagon, you aren't done forever, you just start over. Good book.
This is a great diet for anyone who wants to lose weight or just to start eating right. We started the diet due to a family members health needs. I think the diet makes sense, is easy to follow and has a lot of great recipes.
There are three different stages. The first is very demanding and last 2 weeks, but well worth the effort. The second stage adds more foods to the diet and is up to the individual how long they saty in this stage. The third stage is the life long stage and has a great variety of foods that taste good and keep a body healthy and feeling good.
I would and have recomend this book to anyone as I am convinced of the healthful benefits.
