Planet Earth - The Complete Collection (2007, DVD)

The photography in this set is mind boggling! The cameras were designed for use by the defence department. With this equipment, the producers were able to zoom in on animals from over a mile away! This allows them to show footage that has never been seen before. Along with night vision footage they have provided the most amazing and breathtaking nature scenes that I've ever witnessed.
The BBC invested over 25 million dollars producing this series and it certainly shows! You will feel like you're hiding mere inches from these animals, watching them doing things that have never been photographed before.
The set also includes a wealth of information about the habits and lives of these creatures, the plight of many of them, and their valuable impact on our entire eco-system.
If there is a negative aspect to the series, it's that you will be compelled to watch all 5 DVDs in one sitting, which is much like trying to cover all of Disney World in an afternoon!
The producers have undertaken an enormous task and transposed it into our living rooms brilliantly!

I bought it because It is a wonderful work that allows us to appreciate, and be gratiful, for the planet we live in.

I dislike the way the make the packeging.of the dvd's because it is almost imposible when you open it to get one, to close it back up with them inside, they keep falling off.

The DVD series is phenomenal! It is perfect for all ages. The series is very well done. You are swept away to unknown beautiful worlds that take your breath away immediately. Each of the 14 parts of the series are packed with education and information not available in other ways. I originally ordered the series for my 27 year old son, then for a senior community, then for myself. I am so impressed we are ordering a set for everyone for Christmas this year.

When viewing many nature shows, it is hard to grasp the interaction and interdependence among species. However, the grand scale of this BBC production, Planet Earth, makes this no typical documentary. I would say that every school should show this series in the classroom.

Stunning and innovative photography shows the Earth from the poles to the deepest oceans and everywhere in between. Thoughtfully narrated, each episode is like a living, breathing encyclopaedia of places the average person cannot even dream about. Many places do not even allow people to be present, are too remote or too dangerous, so this is the only visual record we might have for quite some time.

I highly recommend this series for everyone interested in nature. It is amazing how everything in life is interrelated and interdependent. It is not full of "Green Politics" but it does make you appreciate our little blue marble and want to protect it.

After i saw these movies I immediately bought The Blue Planet. Not only did I feel like I had traveled all over the world-but I had a new understanding of our planets needs and beauty.

I love the scenery, the action, the wonder of how did they get that shot. I've shown it to friends who hadn't seen the special on cable and they were amazed at it. No wonder it took 5 years in the making.

When I saw this for the first time I could hardly take my eyes from the screen. It is so well done and you just watch in awe as you see how different animals etc. live. My children have also watched it and loved it, there was never anything so gorie that I had to cover their eyes. In fact the reason I wanted to buy it is for them, so educational.

I had borrowed the Planet Earth set from a friend and watched the entire series already, but loved it so much i knew i had to own it. I got it for a great price, great condition, only one of the prongs that held one dvd in place was broken, but that happens with new dvds anyway. All the disks play wonderfully and I am so happy that I now own the set myself for almost a fourth or fifth of what i would have to pay in stores for one in just as great condition. Great seller, came right on time, and in great condition. Loved everything!

I liked how they showed all the exotic animals shown in this series. It was fun to watch and was interesting.

I'd seen some of the series on TV and really wanted to own the set. The videography is amazing, though some of the scenes may affect small children as they're pretty graphic and definitely show the realities of nature.

This series is so well done. The extra footage after each title on how they got all the shots is really neat also. Highly recommend. Just watch out for pirated copies that people try to pass off as real on ebay. If the price is too low to believe, it's probably for a reason.

This was a way better deal that the discoverystore! It is an amazing documentary full of animals and places you've never seen before with perfect clarity and crazy aerial views.

This collection is incredible, the footage is spectacular. BBC went above and beyond in capturing some of the most amazing images on our planet.

I was dissapointed in that I really wanted the one that had Sigourny Weaver as the comentator instead, I got David Attenborough.
